Car runs better on a full tank?
Just got my fd and it is amazing! i did notice however that the car seems to run very well on a full tank. the car is completely stock and has almost 60k on it.

sluggish, not as much power seems to be "slower". it seems to be this way after it gets close to 1/2 tank. I dont run it much lower than 1/2 but it is a noticeable difference
yeah fd's are wierd like that. i took mine to a body shop yesterday on like a 1/16 tank of gas..(didnt have time to fill up) and it ran wierd. but considering the cold weather, it sorta made sense
It should run the same, but I would suggest keeping 1/4 tank as the minimum just to be sure it doesn't fuel starve under boost. If your car runs different with low fuel you need to investigate inside the tank, the stock pump sock or the tank itself needs to be cleaned, at a minimum plan on replacing the fuel pump sock when you open the tank.

If you are going to be keeping your car at the body shop for a long periosd of time, you are going to want to fill the gas tank before leaving it there. Over time, condensation can build up, leaving what little gas you do have to mix with water. Happened to me last year...
I would check your gas tank for some sediment or any debris it might have built up over the years.
If you can actually "feel" a significant difference in power and response just by filling your tank, i would be concerned and have your gas tank checked immediately.

+1 on what he just posted.
with low fuel level and under hard acceleration I would guess that some of the fuel will slosh away from the pick up and you might run into a lean condition and burn up the pump. I know thats the case with my walbro pump. Its a good idea not to take the fuel level past 1/8th tank if you still plan on hard accel.
When was the last time you changed your fuel filter located next to the gas tank? Sounds like a pressure problem, could be partially clogged. A full tank has more pressure, thus more fuel flow?
And for MadzaDude7, that was funny, how'ed you get that fat chick in your FD? Like what the Navy says, "its not the size of the ship, but the motion of the ocean"
I won't go drifting with that extra ballast up front.

I was warned that you shouldn't run the car past a 1/4 of a tank due to the fact that if you take a sharp turn to quickly and powering out of that turn its possible to blow a seal or damage the engine. But I was told this after I installed a Walbro pump on the car. Also Notveryhappyjack, 1qwik7 and Hawaiianredmako raise a good point. Correct me if I'm wrong though. Hope you figure out whats up, good luck

I'm afraid octane rating has little to do with that. Put in the additive.
As for the original question, change your fuel filter ASAP. I went thru this recently and because the fuel filter was clogging, just the extra weight of a full tank was enough to improve fuel pressure and driveability. Also pull the fuel pump and look to see if the tank needs drained and cleaned. I'm serious - you could blow your engine driving around with insufficient fuel pressure.
