car ran all night!!!

i went out to the car this morning and it was still running wtf?! it has to be the turbo timer cause thats the only thing that controls that... but is my car alright!??! it didnt overheat and i shut it down immeadiately and opened the hood. everything SEEMS ok except the fact i have barely enough gas to get somewhere. it sounded a little rough before i shut it off

Haha.

Nice endurance race.

Anyways, I'd change your oil at a minimum, but I doubt the car is significantly damaged.

Oh, and remove the turbo timer. The functionality is ancient.

yeah im defiantely getting rid of that, it came with the car and i didnt see a point in taking it out, but NOW i do...

thanks for the help, thats pretty amazing that the car lasted (over 8 hours) on a quarter tank of gas, and also didnt overheat. the temp needle was SLIGHTLY (barely the width of the needle itself) above normal temp. it was 40 degrees overnight here, so im sure that helped.

think the oil change can last until the weekend? all the fluids are getting done on saturday.

I had locked my keys in my car one day and I was evacuated for a hurricane. The car ran in the parking lot for 2 1/2 hours til ******* pop a lock came. THANK GOD for the Koyo! The pop-a-lock guy was like "neva saws a cara like dis ones befow"! He was really good and got it open fast once I told him how the rods were in the door! He had no idea!!!!!

i locked my keys in my moms car when i was skating at FDR in philly. the lock guy took FOREVER and put a huge pressure dent between the front and rear window when he pryed the door open a little to get his tool thing in there. i wasnt pissed cause it was my moms car, but i was pretty dissapointed. especially cause i know he saw it when he did it, but he didnt say anything to me.

^ haha awesome! jehu is basically dead, but john reis is doing "the hot snakes" now. its less punkish but sounds really good, somewhat of a refined jehu sound. i heard a rumor that it broke up already, but i think it was just a rumor.

alright i let it cool down and i started it up, something sounds amiss in the engine. it almost sounds like something is rubbing, the more i rev, the faster it the sound goes, and my oil pressure is at 30 lbs at idle.. thats also not normal.

these cars run rich at idle.
i'd start by changing (or at least cleaning) the plugs.

and change the oil. it might be fuel diluted.

i added a little oil just now cause it was somewhat low anyway, and its down to about 5-10 lbs at idle (not the normal 0 that i usually see) but if i rev to about 3k, its at almost 60 lbs. and the sound is still there. i can exactly figure out what its coming from, but ill try and record a sound clip

if you'e down on oil pressure, change the oil right away.
smell it and see if it smells like fuel.

Anyway, hope your FD is ok..

haha at first i was pissed that my mom stole the garage spot last night and i had to park in the driveway, now im glad cause that could have been pretty bad waking up to the smell of exhaust!

the oil pressure is ABOVE what it normally is, not below. its hard to tell about the smell of it though, it has a very very slight scent of fuel, but its not the smell of strait fuel at all. im getting all the fluids done on saturday, even with the very very slight smell of fuel can the oil change wait until then?

the sound is what concerns me the most. it almost sounds like its coming from the altinator or directly behind it. it sort of sounds like a loose belt, but its not very loud. very high pitched, almost like an electrical wine but pulsates and is directly related to the rpms.

hahahaa, that is exactly what I thought! Hopefully the sound goes away, and no damage was done. Stupid turbotimer, burn it and dance around the fire like a pagan.

I could never get away with running my car all night.
#1- car would probably get jacked if I left it outside overnight.
#2- the damn car is sooo loud at idle my neighbors would be pissed and call the cops.
#3- green peace would hassle me about all of the vegetation and wildlife that died due to carbon monoxide poisoning.

Might not have woken up at all, if that was the case. Glad indeed.

This reminds me of an old incident:

ALRIGHT... all the above issues have been solved. i limped the car around for a few hours and everything is pretty much back to normal. i smell a tiny bit of oil for a quick second occationally, and im still 3-5 psi higher than normal on oil pressure, but it seems to go down sometimes. the sound is gone! i dont know what it was, but i dont want to hear it again.

BUT another problem has emerged (of course, why should things work like they are supposed to?) when i turn the car off, my radiator fans turn on (even if the car is dead cold) and when i turn the car into "on" , they go off. if i compeltely take the key out and leave it, they run and run and run and run and eventually kill my battery. they went for 2 hours tonight, but i luckly had 11.3 volts left in my battery and it just barely turned over.

any sugestions?
