car over heating

Are the fans suppose to come on for a few minutes after I turn of the car. If so I must have to change my temperature switch?

my understanding is that if computer notices that the car is running hot prior to shut down then after shutting it down it will keep the fans on for about 10 mins. not sure what temperature is the trigger point, probably can do a search for the answer. personally i try to make sure this never happens by cooling the car down prior to shutting down byt nice slow cruise to bring the temps down.
