Car Died Going Into Car Wash :(

So I'm pulling into the car wash and this one has the undercarriage sprayer so once the water gets to just behind the engine the car dies. Try and start it and it just keeps turning over with no fire. Tried pushing the 7 out of the car wash and that didn't work thanks to the bump and even with help. Anyways it finally ended up being able to start but now it starts hard but still runs the same.

Could the water have screwed the starter up a lil bit? Don't wanna get stranded because of my starter going out on me at the worst time.

Damned if I didn't have something similer happen to me. Undercarriage spray. Pulled in, whump. Shut off. I was still rolling forward so I got out of the undercarriage spray, and I tried to restart a couple times... sat for a minute... let the starter turn it over a while and it caught. But it ran fine then, and had no long term effects that I noticed.

I do have the cheap bastard intake, I figured maybe it went up that and got a little into the intake... but maybe it has nothing to do with that.

but now I move through the under carriage wash quickly, never had another problem.

well, if your car is cranking then it is not your starter. are you getting spark? how hard was the water spraying? maybe it knocked something loose...

to be honest, those undercarage war washer options are a bad idea. its a hot engine and the steam has no where to go really.

Well it's starting fine now....but yeah just like addict said it took a while for it to fire up. Yeah RX-7s produce a lil too much heat to be spraying water onto the engine...none the less when you hit the oil cooler it steams real nice. Oh well no more drive through washes...bought a bottle of Meguiars spray and wipe so now it's all manual hand washing for me.

I wouldn't go to one of those car washes in the first place. They don't do a very good job, especially the "touchless" versions. If you go to the one with the giant rollers, you run the risk of getting somebody's snapped off radio antenna whipped all over your car. Just do it yourself. You'll do a better job and it's just one less thing to worry about.

Yeah I have the undertray mounted properly. I'm still wondering what the water could hit to make the car shut off since it comes at an angle toward the front of the car. Hmm.

actually the same thing hapened to me. I was changing my coolant and after I removed the plug water went EVERYWHERE. When I finished I had the hardest time starting the car. It took me about an hour and even tried push starting tha damn thing.

I had a hard time starting my car when I didn't cover the air intake hoses before washing my engine bay. Once it was running and expelled most of it out, no problems. I'd say just drive the thing for a bit and it should be good to go unless your air intake filter is filled with water.
