can't believe this worked... but it did!!!

my car was flooded, wouldn't start and i can't believe what fixed it...

i was THIS close to having my 7 towed to KDR or even the local Mazda dealer for a spark plug job when i caught the tailend of a thread on the RX7 mailing list... another FD owner had the same problems i was experiencing and had gotten his car started... i "talked" with him and here is what i did... and I AM NOT JOKING!!! hahaha...

- pulled the EGI fuse (to stop the fuel pump from working)

- pulled both vac. hoses off the upper intake manifold (the one for the boost gauge and the one in front of it)

- used an old oil can (the kind you push the bottom in and it pops in and out) to squirt POWER STEERING FLUID into each nipple

** to make this last step a little easier i hooked a piece of rubber to the nipple on the manifold and inserted the tip of the "oil" can into the rubber hose...

- you have someone crank the engine for about 25 secs. while you are squirting the fluid in... you do this for each nipple on the manifold... the guy in the driver seat cranks for 25 secs and you squirt in fluid until he stops cranking... so, in essence, you'll be doing this step twice..

- replace the hoses on the upper intake manifold

- replace the EGI fuse

- crank again and be ready for it to start.... if it falters catch it with a little gas

the car will generate white smoke for awhile (about 10 mins) before it starts to run clean as it burns off the fluid.. but after that you are good to go...

really unbelievable but i was SO happy to hear her fire up again... almost brought tears to my eyes!!!

i don't know if Paul R. is out here on the forum somewhere, but thanks again!!

I'd replace the plugs, though, as soon as you get a chance.

well this took about 10 minutes so if you can take your plugs out and clean them faster than that... more power to you... i know i couldn't do the plugs as quickly...

No I cant.....in 10 minutes(I wish)....maybe 20

but then I could just reuse my plugs and not smoke for 10 minutes either...and I can do it alone too.
