Can this part of the nose be trimmed?

I just flushed my cooling system and while I was under the car, I started mocking up some radiator ducting stuff.

If you look into the nose of the car, you can see that these 2 black areas block a significant amount of airflow. Looking at them, I can see that they add structural integrity to the nose. It looks like they can be safely trimmed back without compromising their strength while adding a lot of airflow into the radiator area.

Thoughts?

Here's a pic:

You mean the "make my car look like **** in the name of more airflow" mod?

BTW, those two side panels in the center bumper opening aren't necessary and can be removed without harm. They were among the 101 things that I tore off my car shortly after buying it.

Wow, never seen that before. Thanks for the info! It's one of those mods that is subtle enough that you really don't know it is there unless you look closely. I think I would definitely paint the "shark teeth" black though.

You don't even need to cut them to remove them:

Mine are removed for the same reasons as stated above. Each one is connected to the front bumper with a plastic screw thingy (for lack knowing the proper term) on the top part of the opening. The connections are rather cumbersome to get at and remove, which is what I did. However, you can just grab the dremel and cut them out. Either way, I would remove them.

you dont have to do the shark mod, just make airshields so 100% of the incomming air actually goes thru your radiator instead of around it

When I took my foglights off, there was quite a gap there. I simply bent up some sheet Al and did a ghetto rigged ducting. I will post some pics this afternoon.

Thanks for the info, guys. It does look like if you remove them, air will more easily go around the radiator, but with ducting in place, it should be no problem.
