Question Can the Odometer be changed from Kilometers to miles???

I recently purchased Serge's FD from Canada and brought it to the USA. I would like to change the odometer readout from Kilo to miles. If you look real close at the display I can see miles not lit up. If you look at a car made for the USA you can see Kilo not lit up.
So my question is, can the read out be toggled between kilometers and miles?

I thought to change out the entire gage to a new one but then the actual mileage (Kilometers) would be lost. So I do not want to do this. Especially since it has extremely low mileage.

(The speedo is an easy changeover as it is just the overlay that needs to be replaced. The gage and needle position is the same for both.)

That's a tricky one. If you can get your hands on a US speedometer and compare the guts of the two, you might be able to figure out a way. There might be a jumper trace that's one way for miles, another way for kilometers, etc. You'd need some knowledge of electronics for the project, though!

Might also want to drop a PM to Icemark - he does a lot of FC and Lexus electronics repair and stuff, if anyone could do the job he could. Great guy.

I wasn't looking to rewire. I was wondering if there was a switch on the back that could be toggled or some simple way. If it requires a rewire then I will probably just leave it in Kilometers. I am assuming that if I would ever sell my car that a new buyer would prefer the original odometer in Kilometers as opposed to a replacement unit in miles. That way there isn't any doubt on how many original miles are on the vehicle.
