Can I still use stock injectors?

I was planning on swapping out the stock piece of crud for a nice m2 med. (i road race, and don't want to cut the bumper/reinfocement). I already have cb, dp, mp, intake, and pettit ecu.

My question is, will I still be able to use the stock injectors and fuel pump?

Also, would an ignition amp help at my current state of tune?

thanks,
kyle

most people upgrade the fuel pump at those level of mods.
If you want to run more then 12psi upgrade the injectors too. I have basically the same mods as you except i have a power fc and i am upgrading to the supra fuel pump and 1300cc injectors. I want to run 15psi at the strip.
Alot of people here will tell you that u dont need to upgrade the injectors with our setup, BUT i listen to KD rotary and dave recommends to upgrade...its not expensive so why not?

Well, one reason he might not want to upgrade injectors is that he is running a Pettit ECU. Reprogrammed ECU's don't take to larger/extra injectors well at all.

For him, it would be expensive since he'll also need a programmable ECU like the PFC, Haltech or AEM to control the larger/extra injectors.

It is an extra but not need if the car is tuned and running properly in the first place. I have gone up to 20psi on the dyno with stock injectors for what it is worth.

I respect Dave but I dis-agree. No need at all if your car is done right the first time.
Rikki,

all the research I have done says that the stock fuel pump is the strongest part of the fuel system. What I read was that the fuel pump can pump more fuel than the stock injectors can handle. In otherwords, the injectors are likely to max out before the fuel pump.

My injectors were at .87 to .92 at the strip around 12 PSI. I run 13.5 lbs+and hit .65 to .75 now.

BTW riki, I'm not questioning your judgement..I Know you know more than me.

I added a supra fuel pump and i started to get major hesitation over 5000 rpm on the freeway(rich?). I then installed an HKS Twin Power/w harness and the hesitation is gone and and I got much better low-end throttle response. I would highly recommend getting upgraded ignition.

So, will I be OK running @ 10 psi?

What kind of power are people making @ 10 PSI on the stock turbos with all the bolt-on's? The fuel computer says that the stock injectors will reach 85% duty cycle @ 298 hp, will I be able to make that kind of power with my set up?

thanks,
kyle

Kyle..

I'm no expert so don't take my advice. but I believe that if you run 10 lbs of boost it will be nearly impossible to pop your engine. The reason everyone says that you need a computer when you modifiy the car is that it tends to over boost. If your steady at 10 you got no problems.

Next, before my new mods I was making 270 RWHP at 12 psi. Even then at times I was getting 85 to 93 pct injector duty.

@ 10psi you don't need to upgrade your fuel system. The pettit has a restricter at 12psi but you can safely go over with the ecu. At 12 psi you will be fine with stock injectors but you will be pushing it. I upgraded to 1300cc secondary to insure that I don't pop the motor but like Mahjik said, you need to upgrade to a different aftermarket ecu at the same time.
