Question Can I drive a Rx7 comfortably???

Sup guys,

Can a guy that is 6'4" fit into a RX7 5spd comfortably?

This may seem like a realy weird question, but I realy need to know soon before I go way out of my way to buy a Rx7 in another state that I realy want. I'm moving from KC to VA and I haven't driven one of these Rx7s in person. In fact the last time I was in one was 2 years ago in the passengers seat and I can't remember if it felt like I would have enough room.

I've owned a 92 Eagle talon and that had enough room for me, my friend that is 6'2" said the talon felt kinda cramped to him. I've driven a Mr2 and I think those are fine also. Gotta sacrifice some room for performance!!

Could the FDs be smaller than these cars, especially when menouvering the pedals below?

all appropriate comments will be much appreciated. Thanks

Also, I don't have enough time to try and find one to test drive in my area b/c i am moving this weekend.

i'm 6'4" as well and i have no problem fitting with the seat all the way back. only problem is clearance between my leg and the steering wheel. there just isn't much at all, so no heel-toe action. you can get a touring model with tilt wheel to cure that, or just get a smaller wheel if you get an R1 model.

A slight corerection here, no FD model ever came with an adjustable steering wheel. They are *all* fixed.

Also, the models without sunroofs (Base and R1/R2) have more headroom than the others.

I am 6' My torso and legs are almost equal length. When I sit comfortably in the car, my head is less than half-an-inch from the bottom of the sunroof.

I always wonder how guys drive on the track with a helment on.

You scrunch down, lay the seat back, cut a couple inches of foam out of the seat bottom and if necessary bolt the seat directly to the floor.

I'm 6'1" and fit very comfortably in my touring. I have a friend who is about 6' and he hits his head on the roof if he doesn't slouch in the seat. I guess it's because he has a long torso and shorter legs.

I'm also 6 4 I have a sunroof and stock steering wheel. I can fit into this car just as easily as my 86 camaro or my 87 rx7. Just tilt the seat back a bit and have it as far back as possible. I only have about an inch between my foot and the pedals when my knee is against the steering wheel.

Its all good

being 6'4 and wanting a nice sports car to be comfy in sucks!

I actually have longer legs that torso, so what do you guys think I need to do so I can get on the race track and be able to drive with good technique.

The car I will be getting is a touring with a sunroof

Reccomend seats that will be lower than stock.

Pedal modifications for heel to toe rocking from brake to gas.

I don't belive they did.

A smaller steering wheel would help your leg room situation.

Read the links that Mahjik posted, this has been discussed several times. You will probably want a base or R1/R2 (without sunroof) if you are going to track it. I am 6'2" and fit "ok" in my touring. Leg room is good, but head room is crowded. I have to lean the seat back quite a bit to get enough head room. The only way to know for sure is to go sit in one. Post your location - I am sure there is somebody on this forum that lives near you that would let you sit in their car...

You will have hard time driving RX7 comfortably with your height. Sorry.

Thanks for the reply guys and gals,

I'm actually 6'4" 185lbs, which I think is kinda skinny. The ladies don't seem to mind though.

I'd prolly go with an aftermarket steering wheel if I have leg problems. Seats I will keep stock hopefully. Pedals, we will see how she handles on the road coarse first.

The car I have in mind is a touring with sunroof so I guess I will have to deal with it.

I like in St. Joseph MO, 64506 and am moving this weekend to Roanoke Virginia 24018. I was going to pick this 7 up on the way out there, but I can't seem to sell my piece of crap daily driver. The 1G talon tsi AWD is already gone.

I have a touring with power roof (not glass; kind of odd for a 94 Touring?) and I fit well with the seats all the way back and fully reclined against the bins. Headroom is not a problem, legroom can be for heel toe driving but normal driving is just fine. I'm 6'4 without shoes and weigh about 160.

I don't think the R1 has a smaller wheel. My R1 has the
original wheel and I can't imagine it being any larger.
That thing is about as big as trash can lid.
