Hi boys.
I am sorry to bother you with this.
I have put a bit too much oil in and I would like to take some out.
Now, to do this I would have to go under the car and undo the tray, and so on.
Can I somehow suck it out of the dipstick location?

what tray are you referring to? the undertray??

 

Sorry, I meant to say the bolt.
I need to fasten the outside back of the undertray on either side (when I bought the car I found it like that) and I am not sure how to do that, the holes have no thread. So, while thinking about that, I wrote the post.
Apologies.

I just cannot go under the car at my house, I would have to do that elsewhere, so I thought about taking some oil out that way.

 

Doubt there is anyway to do that.

 

You can buy a pump with a tube that'll suck the oil from the dipstick tube. But really, it would be a lot easier just to drain some oil from the pan.
BTW, you shouldn't have to mess with the undertray at all just to get to the oil drain plug.

 

Why don't you just put a pan under the car, and carefully take the drain plug out a little bit, let the desired amount out, put the plug back in, and wipe it up? Sure it would be a little messy, but it's better than sucking oil out of a tube.

Or you there's another way which I found out just the other day. I did an oil change and the rubber ring around the old oil filter was still left behind on the oil filter neck and because i did this in the dark i just screwed the new oil filter on not knowing the new rubber ring was sitting ontop of the old one.

Lo and behold next morning started her up and lucky I stood there watching as a throbbing and squirting sound began as oil began leaking out of the oil filter. Thats the last time I'll ever do an oil change in the dark!

There's a big puddle in my garage now so unless you want a big mess I suggest you follow MADDSLOW's advice lol

 

if you pull the drain plug, most likely you will drain more oil than you would like to and end up having to refill more. How much extra did u add? if you look at the dipstick, approximatly how much further does it pass the full mark? I've accidently added 1/2 quart or so too much, which measures about 1/8" above and that's ok. Rotary engines do burn up a bit oil when you drive it hard.

unless you added a quart extra or more, then yeah, u might want to consider Maddslow's suggestion. Although i don't see anything wrong with sucking it out from the dip stick tube. a air tube use for fish tanks will easily fit in there. you'll only need about 6 feet long, which should be plenty to let you see the oil coming out of the tube and let go so you don't end up with any oil in your mouth.
