can bad bushings affect the end play on the e-shaft??

just finished replacing needle/thrust bearings and spacers on main shaft inside the front cover because of too much end -play causing the front pulley to hit the ignition pick-ups which caused stalling.
Everything else seems to be fine and the car now runs awesome, but I cant help thinking about the cause.
Bushings? or maybe the pilot bearing in the diff, could any of these cause bearings on the shaft to munch? or is it just a case of old bearings needed to be replaced?

The the thrust bearing and spacer affect e-dhaft end play, unless the pulley hub bolt is too loose.

Only the thrust bearing and spacer affect e-shaft end play, unless the pulley hub bolt is too loose.
