can anyone help, car eating coolant...
My car is eating hella coolant... NO visable leaks or any spillage on the ground.. I dunno how many gallons of coolant/water i've put it.. i can't tap the hoe off. I checked oil for possible leak into oil system but after draing about a quart of oil, oil still looks clean.. I start the car.. and the damn I need more coolant light keeps coming on so i feed the bastard... and it comes back on after a while... Also the car is begging to seriously backfire... i can't get any acceleration.. NO smoke at all so i don't think the engine could be eating it.. can it?? PLease help...

take out your plugs and check them to see if water is getting inside. if they are white'ish with some buildup then you are getting water in the combustion chamber. Also have you overheated the car?

Also check around the AST. Especially if yours is stock. The gasket on it goes out on them, and the fluid burns off before you can tell it's leaking. Mine did that. The light came on every time I would start it. So I'd have to fill it back up. Then one day pulling into my drive way it gave up. Blew antifreeze every where. I wouldn't jump to the conclusion of needing a new motor right away. Check the smaller issues first.

Check your AST first, they're prone to leaking slowly while you're driving. You won't even notice it until it's too late and most of the coolant's drained which will cause your car to overheat. Second would be to check your hoses while the car is running and check for leaks. It could be a pin hole leak that goes unoticed until the rubber hose expands and causes it to leak under pressure. If all else fails, check your oil to see if there's any coolant in there, it'll look like a dark sludgy brown. If there is good luck and start saving buddy, cuz your seals are gone. Hope that helps.

I had the same problem never saw any coolant leaks, then one day I say a little drip of coolant from under my radiator, well 1007$ later I got a new radiator installed...I think my mechanic is expensive, but I cant find any other rotary guys around where I live.
