Nice, but I think Gmonsen has you beat. When I was at his place this summer I saw a ticket he got test driving his Ferrari 512TR. I believe(but may very well be wrong) it was 127 in a 55 Unlike your experience there was no hand shaking involved though

Cop: "155mph, but that was a Camaro."

Me (Pride insulted): My car will....I've read that my car will go that fast. (Extending arm to shake cop's hand) Thanks for not arresting me."

It is? And to thing Labor Day weekend of all weekends to do it I drove from San Diego back home to Phoenix in a big cargo van doing 90+ the whole way. I guess I was more lucky than I previously thought to not meet up with any CHPs.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune, good luck.

but next time FYI: RUN.. If you are going over 120mph
and you go flying by a cop, KEEEP GOING.. What you
got to lose???

I have had 2 experiences running from the COPS.
1st.. back in 94 when FD3S first came out. I walked
out of School and saw a tricked out MB FD3S with nice
rims. Looked inside saw it was a automatic. I asked
the owner WTF with automatic, he said it was still fast
SO we went out and raced up and down route 202.
Needless to say walked him everytime.. SO we finish
racing, going home there was construction, so traffic was backed up. So me and the blue FD took the shoulder, then while stopped at a light. a under cover
stoped and got out the car and started knocking
on the BLUE FD's window. I was like **** that.
as the light changed I took off.. Then the HEat was on.
I was running all over largo MD, with about 10 cops chasing me. THEN somehow I ended up back in traffic
jam. was cornered.. Cops all had their guns drawn,
they had me sprawled out in themiddle of the highway.
My excuse was, the Cop was in undercover car, and was
not in uniform. I thought I was gonna get car jacked..
GOT OFFF... Scott free.... Talk about luck..

2nd incident..

about 1am, in DC, going from one club to another
had a few drinks. Was following a cop. as we
were going thru the city. The cop and I made like 4
consecutive lights. We both was going thru them
thru the yellow. NO problem right??? So on the 5th
light. the cop short stops the light, so i can come past
him, which I did.. Then I hear his SIren and bullhorn
" Stop the car and get out the car with your hands up"
I looked over to my buddy and said " I can't get a dwi"
REVED UP drop the hammer and I was RUNNING.
being in the city there are lights on every block with traffic. Took the first Right, as I watch the lights in
my rear view.. Went another 2 blocks made another right. Then went another block and hung another right,
Reason I makign all these rights because I taking blind
right handers due to traffic and etc.. Then at the next
intersections I see tons of cars at the light and was
a one way street. I thought i am " FUCKED ", but there
was a ramp to an alley way, took that and Drove on
to the side walk, Drove side walk, drove on the side
walk for a block, and got off on another alley drive
way and Ran into VA, tehn double backed into DC,
went to the club, and had a story to tell..

On my street bike. I ran all the time.. Even brazen
enough to pop a wheelie past a cop, and run..

Moral of the stories. SCREW the PIGS.

Cop pulled me over when I had my GSX-600 but gave me a warning since he did not (could not) clock me on the radar. I was doing well over 120. In Texas thats usually jail time.

Hell no! That was the only one that I got away with. I kept my foot down, went about 160, got off at the next exit(frying my brake pads in the process), drove on the wrong side of the road on an overpass, got on the highway going the other way, and passed him going the other way as I was getting on! He didn't have a clue.
What I meant by saying that i've payed for that time and time again, is that every time that i've been stopped since that night, i've gotten a ticket. I've never received a warning. And the horrible thing is, is that most of the tickets(with the exception of a couple) have been for 10mph or less over the limit. All ballbreaking officers.
I think i've worn out my good luck! I drive much smarter now. I haven't gotten a ticket in just under a year. They hit me in the wallet(most expensive ticket being $450), that's how they got me to obey the law.
I just pick my spots better now.

They should just give sports/fast car owners their own 'super' lisence and two lanes of the highway to legaly do our thing. You should have sympathized with the cop and let him know that it WAS a viper. I mean c'mon I'm sure it's somewhere in the constitution that when cars of this magnitude meet, they HAVE to race.

I've always believed there should be a system where better drivers could qualify for more priveledges. Like a "super" license would let you do up to say... 50 over the limit on the highways with no ticket as long as it was reasonably safe to do so. Doing 110 in rush hour might not be safe, but on a Saturday afternoon, it might be pretty darn safe...

Of course, I think that there should be qualifiers on cars too. For example, a "super license" holder shouldn't be allowed to drive a minivan any faster than the speed limit because the van can't do it safely.

Oh well.. One day I'll take over the planet and make it all right.

I got this off a NSX website. Does anyone think it will work? I just got a ticket for 88/55 and would really like to fight it.

[I wrote the Virginia code information here that says they have to produce these for me :-)]

If for any reason you are unable to comply with the above request, please notify me, in writing, before my trial date set for 17 December 1996 at 8:30AM.

Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter.

[CM] Please keep in mind that this is not guaranteed. I have only used this tactic in Marion County, Indianapolis, IN. When I get pulled over for a traffic violation, I act courteous and friendly. Unfortunately I am not as smooth as BlueJay, so I usually end up with a ticket. No problem. All of my infractions have been mild enough to allow payment by mail. I think that if you have something too serious you are required to go to court (in Indiana). Anyway, I don't pay it, but rather, set a court date for the future. This process then issues the officer a subpoena. Apparently, the cops around here have better things to do when it comes time for court. Of the 7 times I have done this, the officer has NEVER shown up (knock on wood). One important thing to avoid saying when in the presence of the ticketing officer is "see you in court"!! The key is not to **** him off. The whole thing takes months, so it's plenty of time for the officer to forget about you. Good luck!!

Yeah im in favor of a floating speed limit, at least on country roads and hiways. I'd be willing to bet that going 120 in the rx7, or any sports car for that matter, is at least as safe as going 80 in a metro due to the sports cars bigger brakes, aerodynamics, suspension, ect. However in wet conditions the speed limit is the same for all cars and the sports cars dont get a +15mph bonus. And i do think track racing should give you a "super license to to be abused in residential areas and what not." Speeding should also be % over not mph over. going 50 in a 25 is a lot different than going 75 in a fifty.

Honestly, there are times when it's nothing but miles of open freeway, and I'm supposed to do 60? WTF, I say if the conditions are fine, and you can see well ahead of you, let the person in the 'sports' car do their thing. No quick lane swithing, and driving without seatbelts, or hanging out of the sunroof at 110+, but just use better judgement. That's why we have sports cars don't we? Just build us a nice autobahn interstate, and I'll be happy. Hell those big 18wheelers get their own privelages, why shouldn't we? Plus I'm down with the discount too, since we are improving fuel mileage by running faster continuously. If the cops can speed enough to aprehend a criminal, then their driving just as wreckless, and putting lives at risk. Since when did two wrongs make the right? It follows the same logic of robing a bank and everyone in the getaway car being involved. Cops suck.

WhiteRXseven. (cough bs cough) You have seen too many rap videos I think. LOL

Run if you want, but if the cop has seen your plate then why bother? They will be waiting in your driveway when you go back home. Have had this happen to a friend. Also, why run from a ticket? Let's see.... speeding ticket vs. incarceration? Tough choice. Hehe.

MEDDLE---GIVE ME THE NUMBER TO THE LAWYER. Mine is pretty good, but if he doesn't get what I want, I may have to call your guy. I'm sure that wildwood just wants the money--look at the area.

For those of you who suggested getting a better radar detector...I have a decent one, and I'm sure it blinked, but I was too busy watching the road and my mirrors.

And I did briefly explain the situation to the cop, and he did grin. I think he understood, and that's why he didn't arrest me.

Any donations for lawyer/ ticket expenses can be sent to my paypal @ Cyberben3@hotmail.com

I don't know about the bullshit thing, as there are probably a bunch of us who've done things that noone would believe, but I do agree with the little green one. It's typically not smart to run. There has to be a bunch of things that have to happen in order for it to even be a possibility. He can't see your plate, you have to be in an area of highway that you truly know inside and out, and there has to be an exit or two in the next mile. Your only hope is to get off the highway before he can radio and set up help. Once he does that, you're all done. It doesn't matter how fast your car is.
I've run a couple of times, but been so scared afterwards(and during), that i've vowed not to do it again. Don't get me wrong, it was fun. But as soon as I thought a policeman might have seen me, it turned really scary.
Keep your wits

I can beat that, but it wasn't me. Friend of a friend 200 kph in a school zone. That's 40 kph limit. He was on a Katana 1100, I think, with three months riding experience. Don't know why he stopped, as the rule there is supposed to be if a bike doesn't start to slow immediately, the cop is supposed to turn off his lights and quit.

did you pass an onramp? in your deul between the cop and ahte place where he caught you. Alternately, you could go got court and tell the judge it couldn't have been YOU!, the officer must have been mistaken at the passing Viper. I had my girlfriend in the car and wouldn't think of endangering her and the car.

faster = more air drag = less efficient use of power = worse gas mileage.

If you want to test it out just see how far you get at your top speed, i'm guessing not even half as far as cruising at 55 or 60

I had heard about this too but it apparently doesn't apply in the state of Missouri. Several years ago I got a ticket for speeding when I felt that I was observing the speed limit so I decided to take it to court. I show up on the correct day with my lawyer and was told that the Highway Patrolman was on vacation and we had to reschedule and come back on another date. I was pissed off but did eventually get out of the ticket. So even though he was on vacation and didn't show, I still had to come back to court at a later date to defend my case.

I can't believe the guy didn't just walk up to your car and put the cuffs on you and take you away. If you're luck is this good you should definatly go to car and try to get the charges reduced, although I don't think you'll get out of the wonderful experience that is called drivers school. Good luck man!

Actually, depending on the ticket, it's up to the judge whether he wants to dismiss it or not if the officer isn't present. However, at 100+ mph? You can count on that definitely not working.

Get a lawyer and see if you can get off easy. If you're lucky, maybe you'll get off with no points and just the Defensive Driving course (which sucks, just ask me).
