Can’t get enough coolant in.

Ok so I know this has been beat to death but after hours of searching all of the coolant threads I still don’t have an answer to my question.

Is there some manner of which I am supposed to put my coolant in other than pouring it in? Is the low coolant sensor super sensitive to full vs. low?

The story:
I replaced hose that had gone bad with a new stock hose. when I refilled the fluid it only seems to take so much than it appears full. Cap is replaced, I run the car within moments the low coolant alarm goes off. I turn the car off check everything coolant is full in side reservoir full in catch can and full up to the neck of the filler spot. If I squeeze the main hose the water level goes down I poor more in and than a little more and a little more and so on. After doing this for a while I turn the car on. Alarm turns on again. The alarm finally stopped turning on but i only added maybe one more cup of coolant from the last start up test that the alarm had turned on.

Drove it about 50+ miles, got home turned the car off and than switched it to the on position to listen to a song i liked. All of a suden the alarm goes off again. Checked every where, not a drop of coolant on any thing. Checked every thing, it all looks full. Squezed coolent hose and the level goes down a inch put some coolent in and repet. I put maby two cups of coolant in mabey and the alarm stops turning on. Is there a fine line between full and the low alarm? Did i not get it all the way full the first time?

Its had white smoke on a cold start as long as i have owned it but it goes away after a few min. No problems starting ever. Just problems getting the coolent in.

If you are still running coolant through the throttle body, take off the back hose as you fill coolant. Squeeze the radiator hoses to help burp the air out. When the system is nearly full it will trickle out through the throttle body hose. Put that hoser back on and clamp it and you should have most of the air out.

cool thanks i will try that one. I am also going to try the pressure test i have read about during my serch.

Good advice here . Removing the TB coolant hose will allow air to escape the system as you fill it. Slowly fill the AST first. Wait to see if it goes down. Fill until it won't go down. Then cap it and fill at the filler neck. Don't forget to reattach the TB hose.
