Bought mine (and some) with my re-enlistment bonus. Was in the Northern Arabian Gulf (NAG) at the time.
Picked up my winter project pieces with money I saved from my deployment to the NATO Headquarters in Afghanistan this summer (Yes, I am American).
Will probably sponsor a new (better quality) paint job and street-port with money from a deployment to Iraq later this year (keeping my fingers crossed that I get it).

I spent eight months in Uzbekistan(2003 OEF)(Air Force), also spent a few days/weeks in Germany, Turkey, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, and Afghanistan. Sold my old car before I left, cut off all my bills and spent maybe around $300 total that ENTIRE eight months lol. Came home and paid cash for my FD, some mods, plus a DD(98 Dodge Ram).
That deployment overall was probably one of the best things that I have ever experienced in my life... learned a lot and made some decent cash.
If you're not big into other investments or whatever make sure you all check out that Military Savings Deposit Program... savings account that gives you 10% while you are in a combat zone.

Former active duty navy here, deployment money was going to pay for a tII conversion but that fell through. Applied it to a down payment on the FD.
The reserve wants to send me to the sandbox, if they do- i'm gutting the engine bay and starting from scratch, finishing the frame the way i want it and getting wheels and tires.
this budget build crap is for the birds.

I'm not military, but from a civilian who completely supports any soldier he comes across by buying him/her a brew at the bar or airshow. . . . I completely take my hat off to you guys.
Without you guys serving and protecting my rights to bitch about the rotaries' reliability, and my mpg, I wouldn't have the right to say it outsid eof my noggin.
I say it once, and I keep saying it. For each rotorhead i meet in real life, beer is on me. Some people may not say or type it, but I am honored to have you all as fellow rotorheads, as friends, and as compadres.
You guys are awesome. I salute each and every one of you

Amen brother, haha.
This must have been since they stopped putting people in the hotels and keeping them holed up in there, haha. I had a couple friends working up there when I was here at Salem last time, I fought for that slot so hard for the $90/day, haha.
I think I speak for all of us when I say thank YOU for your support. It's nice to know people appreciate it.

The money from my seperation helped me buy my FD.
I wanted to stay in. The AF said that if I wanted to stay in, I'd have to crosstrain to the SP side of the house. And I'm not going to be a gate guard.
My career field is (or was ~ I'm still Active Ready Reserve) 3C0X1 (via USAF.) Communications Computer Systems Operator.
I'm a military contractor now down at Tyndall AFB doing half the work for twice the pay, and none of the responsibility or obligations.
Just waiting for them to let prior service back in. Once the flag is up, I'm finishing out the 13 years I have left to retirement. I come from a long line of Airmen, Soldiers and Sailors.
Contemplated the guard or reserve, but if I'm going to do it, I'm doing it 24/7. I know they got AGR positions and all that, but I was born active duty, and I'll die active duty.

i haven't yet purchessed my FD as im to fussy what one to buy. but served in East Temor (peace keeping) as part of the NZ army and once back home things got ugly and was discharged and stood down for four years. i would love to be back in the forces but currently my ban still stands in my way. they told me go to reserves, not my thing i were full time and part time aint my thing as well as having to work a day job.
