A/C questions?? r12/r134..

According to an article I read they stopped putting r12 in cars in the late 80's. If so then why does my 3rd gen have r12. Maybe im wrong but I swear it says r12 under my hood. Anyways// has anyone ever refilled thier own a/c?

You should have a R12 system unless it's been switched over. You CANNOT refil R12 at home, it has to be done by a shop and some shops don't carry it.

The 95s have R-134a. All the older US 7s have R-12.

Has anyone tried that Napa R134a conversion kit? I'm talking about the one with the stop leak in it. A co-worker told me about it, but the guy was kind of an assclown, so I don't know if it even exists.

you can use the napa r134a conversion kit....i don't think they sell them with stop leak but they do sell them with the oil for r134a conversion and all the orings needed
make suer you flush the entire ac system after sucking down the r12 then leave the system on a good vaumn for a while before refilling with the r134...
oh check the sticker under hood it will tell you r12 ac or r134a....

I used a conversion kit on mine in May. I didn't bother replacing the o-rings, but just had the system evacuated before filling. Also didn't change the drier. Target sells cans of 134 with stop-leak and oil that I used to fill the system. It has been working well since the recharge, but I can't tell you whether all of the o-rings are going to fail within the next year. The EPA web site has some info on converting cars.
