A/C question

Hey,

Does anyone know off-hand what happens on the throttle body when you turn on the A/C. What makes the idle go up? Does the throttle linkage itself move, or does one of the solenoids open?

Thanks,

I think the ECU raises the idle

Yes, but the ECU doesn't do that by magic. The ECU has to open something on the throttle body: Either it has to open the throttle plates or open of the solenoids that controls the idle speed. The electronic signal on the ECU has to translate into some mechanical movement of the components that control the idle. My question is, what does the ECU move: the throttle linkage itself or one of the solenoids.

The ecu adjusts the BAC (bypass air control) valve. The will allow the idle to adjust.

Speaking of A/C's...mine doesnt work. But i am happy with my windows down and sunroof......So, instead of dumping money to fix it....i am considering taking it out completely...How hard is this??? anyone have any comments/experiences they'd like to share?? thanks -Jeff
