a/c problems....ques about extended warranties

just got my fd. already having problems. busted coolant hose. a/c stopped working. mazda put in three pounds of freon at ($50) a pound just to have it all leak out. said they will find the leak b/c they put in the dye. but when they recharge it they will charge me another 150 for the freon...... ouch..... does that seem right????? had a honda before no problems..... on top of that i had told them to diagnose the problem and they went ahead and did all this without giving me an estimate!!!!! i was going to wait off on fixing the a/c so i can buy a pfc after i replace the hoses with silicone. does anyone have extended warranties.... my fd has 64k miles on it. has a reman engine but original turbos.....how much???? is the warranty void if you have performance mods???? sorry it' s long . thanks

They should've charged up the system, found the leak, then sucked all the freon back out.....I would **** and bitch about that.

As for the warranty....yeah, you're gonna void it with mods.

hey... sucks about the ac but expect that from a mazda dealer, or most others for that matter.

as for warranty, its tough to get one for older cars, let alone an FD. and yes modding will void the warranty.

you could try
www.warrantydirect.com

but i'm pretty sure they don't warranty cars with over 60k on the odo.

NEVER GO TO THE DEALER!! They'll always rip you off. The guy above was right when he said that they should've charged the system, found the leak, and pulled it back out to fix the leak. If you bitch about that, you can get your next one free.

I had problems too when I first bought mine. My lower radiator hose cracked and then my waterpump went. You kind of have to expect this from this car. Good luck

thanks for the reply. the mechanic said that when they charged it they couldn't find any leaks. so they left it in there. ran the a/c.... said it was reading about 39 degrees with the a/c at full blast. when i picked the car up a day later and turned the a/c on it was blowing very warm air. how the f@#@k does three pounds of freon leak out that qucik?????? the leak must be pretty substantial right????
