Buying a RX-7

I found a RX7 Base Model/R-1/Touring today...and I dont know anything about it. I did a research and found at the r-1, r-2 models are twin turbo and does not have a moonroof and leather seats...but the one I saw today was leather and had a moonroof.... also I checked on Autocheck for the vin number (JM1FD3310P0201265) and it had 16 records in it...the dealer is sellign it to me for $14,900 and it has 98425 miles on it...and when I started the engine a lotta smog came out until the car warmed up...does that mean its a bad thing? Does any one know if I should buy this car?

Well, you will find out alot by using the search function. 15k sounds like alot, especially if that is the origional engine. I mean check out the for sale section, you will see what a decent FD sells for. But anyway, try searching.

The trend i'm seeing these days is that people want things handed to them. Things people tell you get forgotten over time, but things you work hard to learn or understand stay with you forever. If you are really interested in buying RX-7, then take some initiative and start searching around and learning for yourself. At that point, assuming your are financially secure, you are ready to purchase the car.

Step-by-step...

1) hit your <back> button to get to the forum thread list.
2) scroll upward to the top of the list of threads, click the first one.
3) scroll down to the part that says FAQ
4) read it, then when you are done read the links in the FAQ.

there are so many buying guides for the rx-7 its almost rediculous. If you can't even find a FAQ or buying guide I doubt you will be able to take good care of the car.

I'm in the process of buying an rx-7 too, just use the search button and look at the stickies, they have everything you will need to know - I know it helped me out.

This one is my favorite:
http://rx7.voodoobox.net/infofaq/bguide3g/bguide3g.html

Its not overly complex with terms and is a simple guide - I printed one out and am taking it with me, it includes a checklist of things to look for as well.
