buying an FD... What to look for?

I am looking at buying an FD. I have owned two Fc's and now it's time for my dream car!

I believe that I am doing the process correctly! He he!

Anyway, I finished college and now have a good career so I'm looking for an FD for around $15,000.

What years and models are the fastest and nicest? I have done some searching, but my knowledge is based mainly on FC's.

What specifically do you look for on an FD? Turbo setup? Do you check compression? How many miles do the motors last?

Anything else?

Thanks,
Rob

They all have the same engine, so it's just which options you want.

Do a bit more searching, theres a ton of topics just like this, along with a link at the top of this forum to help you out. Good luck with the search.

roughly speaking, there is base model, touring (also sometimes referred to as PEP or PEG depending on what year it is), and R1/R2.
the touring is the base model plus a few options like rear wiper, sunroof, foglights, bose system, and rear spoiler
R1/R2 has a more performance oriented suspension, dual oil coolers instead of just one, front strut bar, front lip, suede seats, and it doesnt come with cruise control i think. also i think all R1/R2 are manual transmission.
now check the sticky threads before you get flamed.

yeah! I'm an idiot!

For some reason i completely missed the sticky at the top! After I posted this i read it and it answered most of my questions!

Thanks for pointing it out!

It is much easier than trying to sort through the search engine by keywords that may or may not be appropriate!

Thanks,
Rob

MUST SEE before you buy a used rx7
http://www.rx7turboturbo.com/robrobinette/buyaused.htm

Last time when I buy my FD, I only concern the body, interior and mileage. It is because I asume most of the FD need engine work, otherwise ppl won't resell them. Read the above web site, you may have some ideas how to check the engine. So, if you can find a FD that is healthy at that time, you still need to put more money and time to maintain it. Good luck !!
