buying from E-bay?

Hay recently I've been shopping around for an RX7 FD... but in canada there isnt alot around... and the lowest milage is 90,000 KM on the meter... which I think is kinda too much...

I've been checking out E-bay and they have some around 50K and it a pretty resonable pricing i think... but I'm still not sure if it is safe to get one from E-bay... it's not about the money problems but the conditions of car that I worrie about...

do you guys think it's a good idea to get one from E-bay??? or you guys think it's too risky too?

It shouldn't be risky. The cars should be alright. Ebay has a bad reputation for auto transactions because there are too many dead beat bidders.

I buy from ebay often but I would never buy a car from there. Thats to much money to spend for someone to say "oh, I forgot to mention that" and not seeing and driving the car.

I have seen some nice clean FD's on there but would worry about most of them.

You still need to get all the information about it. Find out all the basics, such as: is the 5th gear synchro ok, any oil or coolant leaks, boost pattern, etc., etc. After that you need to make sure to get a compression test and have the car checked out. The only problem with ebay is that you might have all that done and then not win the auction or in some cases the auction is so short you don't have enough time to get it all done. Basically, I would take the same precautions and measures that you would when you are looking for a non-ebay car.

Ive bought 2 cars from ebay in the last year. Fortunately I've had good luck with my transactions. I would suggest calling the seller and asking a ton of questions ahead of time. There are third party inspection companies that you can hire to look at the vehicle if your out of state.

Good luck.

I would ask some RX-7 people to test drive the car first, especially FD.

since you live in T O why don't you wait around spring and you'll see some more 7s 4 sale.
I would assume that the price should go down since the rx8 is coming...

I tried looking around or on the net but I couldnt find alot of FDs in Toronto... infact non at all right now...

i dont have a car so it's hard for me to get around in toronto... I know some FD's for sale in vancouver which is my Hometown... but they are in the 90,000 KM range... which I think is kinda much...

as for the thrid party car inspection company thing... I dont know if they will do a good job on it cause Rotary's are kinda different from normal piston powered cars... I dont know if they have the equpment and also if they actually know what to look for... or do i have to tell em...
