Question Buy FD with "good motor" or blown and do rebuild?

Hey FD gods,
I have a question, I did search, and it didnt help to much, so here goes.
I am looking to buy a FD, but wondering if i should get one with a "good" motor, and pay 15-17,000 for it, or get one with engin problems, or a blown engin for 7-9 (depending on interior and paint etc...) , have it rebuilt (or would reman be better?) and street ported and all that good stuff?
If you could explain some why you picked what you do, it would be appreciated. Thanks
Ben

I would get a blown motor nad do a rebuild if you have time to wait for it all. If you buy a car with a working motor, you have no idea how well it was cared for and it could go at any minute. Buy a rebuilt one and do all the reliability mods, and don't worry about a blown engine. Or just buy a brand new engine if the other one is in really bad shape.

Just my $0.02, others will disagree

Good strong engine is always better. First better resale value. Second, less wait. Third, cheaper to rebuild/upgrade.

Reman is kind of depends on the rebuilder. Reman have more probelms than a "good" engine in general.

well, i found two with blown motors, one for 8, the other for 9, solves that problem, then i live about 10 minutes from N-tech (thats good, isnt it?) if not, then theres a maztech or something like that (havent looked into it) in tampa (45 mins from my house), if thats no good, Pettit is about 1.5 hours from my house (Thats gotta be good?) so im in a good area for shops.
So anyway, who would be your suggestion on a good rebuilded? i have those options, so do you still suggest the same? i am kinda leaning towards the rebuilt, just because i cant buy a car with a good working motor, then go and replace the motor, im looking at around $15,000 or less on the car.
Thanks again
Ben

I'm also considering this option, as I'm just down the road from Malloy Mazda, and pretty close to KD as well. My only problem is, I've never done any major engine work, but I'd like to try to pull the core, and drop the new engine in myself.
