I don't think this is the "hesitation" issue that I've read so much about. More of a bucking bronco feel and it is occuring at around 2000rpm. Doesn't seem to matter whether the car is warmed up or not, still get the buck. You can throttle through it fine, but if you just lope at the lower 2000 range, it's going to buck at least in 1st, 2nd or 3rd.

No mods, 30,000 miles on Mazda remanufactured engine.

i never really hit rpms that low except for taking off in first. After that the lowest i hit is 3k. For me, rotary engines have never seemed to agree with lower rpms.

 

Your ecu could be in limp mode. Disconnect the battery and let it sit for a few minutes.

 

I had this when the car was cold. Turbo Control Vales were replaced and this problem was fixed, along with a myriad of other problems.

 

And what's that going to do? If the ECU is in limp mode, it's going to stay in limp mode unless you reset the ECU...

Regardless, bucking at 2000 rpm is not a sign of an ECU in limp mode.

 

Could this be related to a fuel filter? Seems like a lack of fuel or uneven flow would cause something of a bucking sensation.

 

Check your TPS.
