Bucking in 1st gear

I've been having trouble with this problem with bucking and hesitation in first from like 2.5-3k the car would buck until it got past 3k and then run fine. This problem only occurs in first. I've checked the TPS and it is within spec. The only thing i could think of other than that might be the ECU? Has one had this type of problem and was able to solve it?

Hey Hobbez are you from oahu?

Is the bucking under light or heavy acceleration?

From what I've seen (and my own experiences), the heavy hesitation/ bucking due to the stock ecu is usually in the lower gears 1-3, under relatively light acceleration, and varies from car to car as far as the rpms. My car would shudder, lose power and rpms as I stepped on the gas. After I reached a certain point in the throttle, the car would leap forward and accelerate, which was very annoying. The problem due to the ECU usually isn't restricted to first gear I believe. Perhaps more people can chime in on this.

Others have experienced the 3k hesitation. My problem was mainly between 1500 - 2000 rpms. I tried adjusting the tps to spec, however, this did not help my problem. I later replaced the stock ecu with a PFC, and this eliminated my oscilating idle and hesitation/bucking completely.

I also agree with dgeesaman, make sure you have all your maintenance items taken care of as well.

i have crazy hesitation in 1-3. As well as the 3000k hesitation while cruizing, ive heard that if you get better grounds the 3k one goes away. I got more grounds and a PFC ecu, and all my hesitations and bucking went away.

I'm betting that if we had some way of monitoring the fuel delivery with the stock ecu, it would show that it fluctuates the fuel level. In other words, the stock ecu is telling the car to cut fuel at certain points for some reason. I believe the reason why the PFC kills the hesitation/bucking issue is because it smoothens out the fuel delivery.

I just mentioned it because I changed my fuel filter yesterday and the car seemd a lot smoother in low gear / light load on the test drive. The filter was only 2 years/ 10k miles old - so agewise it was due, but mileage it wasn't. I was a little surprised it made a difference.
