Broken Motor Mount Question

While replacing my clutch, I saw my driver's side motor mount was split in half. That could explain the weird clicking noises I was hearind during autocrosses when I accelerated hard out of corners. Could that also explain why I have an oil leak in the oil pan vicinity?

I don't understand the whole thing about the motor mount being oil filled per http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/oil_pan_removal.html
Does this just mean that the stud that passes through the mount goes into the oil pan and that connection can leak? Can I replace the mount without draining the oil? Will the urethane mounts hold up to breakdown from oil leaks?

Any help would be appreciated.

If you replace the motor mount you will not drain the oil pan in your face. A oil dampened motor mount has a pocket of oil inside it to stop the vibrations. You have an oil leak in that vicinity ,like all the other old pans ,they leak.

Does anyone know if I can replace the engine mount without removing the oil pan? Sounds like a dumb question I know, but I was worried about the oil seal around the bolts. I planned on putting permatex on the bolts, but just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to end up with a worse leaking oil pan by just replacing the engine mounts and not taking off the oil pan and re-sealing it.

Yes. But you still have to jack up the motor to remove the mounts.

No problem with jacking up the motor. Any advice on what to use on the bolts to seal?
