A good IC will make your car perform better. That is the only good reason to get one. I'd rather not have it be visible no matter how much it costs. Cops and thieves can see, too.

I'd go front mount, Direct air for cooler air temps and just remove your a/c I did that on my car and it takes forever to warm up now once you take the condenser off the front of the radiator. I'd replace too while your at it, only took like 3 weeks for mine to go and leave me stranded after the fmic got installed

I have nothing to add to this post other than to spit out my preference... but why does everybody think that FMIC's look so "cool" . On a stock FD, they look silly IMHO.

Also... "definatley does the job"?? What are talking about? A good quality IC is going to "do it's job" no matter if it's an SMIC, FMIC, or a VMIC.

Thank goodness! I thought you had cracked up. I kept reading your post and thinking "matty? How can it be?"

But you did a good job with the charade. It wouldn't surprise me in the least to read something like you posted on here.

If your main objective is saving money I'd go with a used fmic or smic off of the forum. I did my own custom fmic using the apexi gt core and the custom pipes, CT clamps, and couplers ended up costing a bundle. Not to mention how much easier it is to just buy a good used one off the forum and just drop it in. The custom one took quite a bit of work.

It seems these generalized "ebay" intercoolers are usually spearco. Spearco intercoolers are without a doubt good intercoolers, and they can be found on ebay consistantly for very cheap. So this "ebay" intercooler is just dismissed as crapy because where it was bought from, but in fact it's just as good as any of it's leading competitors. I would agree there are crappy "ebay" parts, but spearco intercoolers are not one of them. Now if it said "spearco core" and and the tanks were welded by some random other person, I'd probably stay away, but there are some good products on ebay.

True but the question is which does the best job over all? I wondering how well a v mount would do with the stock hood? any one running a v mount with the stock hood? if so how well does it work?

Im currently working on building an HMIC (not so different from a VMIC). I think this set-up has two things going for it:
  • Shorter piping
  • Better cooling for rad
To ensure the efficiency of the IC, I will be using one of our reverse vented hood designs.

Quit being a troll and search FD3SR1. This exact same thing has been discussed at length by very qualified sources. You're just wasting peoples time and bandwidth either for fun, stupidity or laziness, I don't really care which.

And like I said earlier, there's been nothing new in the last few months since the last multi-page discussion. There are test results from the track with all three setups, for both air and water temps. Any of the three setups can work very well and each has their pros and cons -- which have been covered repeatedly. The problem is you appear to be too lazy to read through the older posts....about ANY topic.

there is no other topic in the history of the FD that has been discussed as much as the fmic vs smic debate. Anyone that has something good to say has said it 5 times already and refuses to reply any further. So the moral of the story is if you want good tech info do a search. If you want feedback from little kids who want bling bling yo then continue on in this thread. I am not being rude....trying to help you.

Now finding those didn't take more than 4 min...and I've got dial-up.
