brake light came on and wont go off

i recently spun my FD through a grass median on a rainy day and appeared to have done no damage to the car. I have driven it several times since then with no problems. Today while accelerating hard, the brake light comes on. Like when you dont depress the handbrake all the way down. I checked the handbrake by engaging it and disengaging it but the light stays on. I shut the motor off and when I restarted it the light stayed off for a few seconds then lit up again. How do I trouble shoot this? It doesnt seem that the brakes are engaged in any way with the light on as the car rolls freely without any brake noise. Help!

Check your brake fluid. Make sure it's topped off.

I had the same problem last year, however in my case, it was worn brake pads...

I think hes talking about the handbrake. Check the wire connection that is connected to the bottom of the e-brake under the boot.
