BOV question
BOV question
I have 3 under my hood now. I had one installed this morning but my mechanic didn't remove the stock BOVs. This is wrong, correct? They should be sealed off so that all the pressure is released through the twin chamber aftermarket one.... right? lol I am waiting until he gets back from lunch to question him about why I now have three blow off valves.
If your engine was stock and has seq stock turbos, then it had only 1 bov.
The bov is connected to the center of the "Y" pipe and is used to release boost pressure when you close the throttle.
Another "air valve" is connected to the rear half of the "Y" pipe and is used during prespoll up of the #2 turbo. It is the charge release valve. During prespool up it dumps #2 turbos boost back into the air box.
Now, if your mechanic installed an aftermarket bov and did not remove the original bov, you now have 2 bov and 1 CRV.
You only need one bov.
