LOL!

Your reason (A).. If you are to race your car (street or track), you wouldn't want a loud BOV. Loud BOV is to just show off...

Your reason (C).. I have no clue what you are talking about! What is Cat got to do with BOVs?? Cops don't go around smelling fuel... They look for annoyingly loud cars.

My advice.. and this applies to other noobs wanting louder BOV's.. Go with vented hood. I guarantee it will increase the sound at least 50%.

Also, learn about what BOV's do. Find out how it makes it louder.

I did a quick search and I found at least 20+ threads about "Loudest BOV" in 3rd gen section alone!!

When you get the RS tell me how you like it or put a soundclip up. I havn't heard one on an FD either. From other cars it sounds like it would be like the stock except louder. It doesn't sound like it gives a chirping bird noise or ne thing, just a deep whooosh. And for all you bashing this guy, why dont you go bash everyone else who has an upgraded BOV.

I have a quick question. How are you venting the wastegate to atmosphere considering you are running your stock twins? I would really like to see pictures of this setup as it really interests me.

He has a single turbo and wants a loud BOV to race people
You know.. Its OSSUM to have the loudest BOV! Like this Mitsu that tried to race my basically stock FD. My girlfriend was with me and she even laughed. He was revving his engine and blowing off his cheap BOVs..

Look who is talking!!!

I haven't said anything in a while

By simply starting this thread, you have shown your immaturity. By argueing with people, you have proven it beyond any doubt. By continuing to argue, you will prove that you are stupid too ........... if you have not proven that already

okayyy...since when was this post about the coolest sounding, loudest, best chick pickup BOV...i just wanted a better performing one than the apex'i twin chamber that actually sounds decent and will perform up to 14psi on my t04e single setup.

im not gonna defend myself anymore, but please try to stay civilized and actually leave some constructive feedback about BOV's that perform well with single's...i know i only have like 20 posts, but that doesnt make me an automatic idiot.

thx guys,
Brian

So what exactly defines a 'better performing' BOV? I would think as long as it reliably vents the intake pressure to prevent compressor surge then you're on a winner.

On a non-newb-bashing note - does anyone know how much higher the pressure has to be over the manifold pressure for the stock bov to open? Or is it whenever the pressure exceeds manifold it's gonna be venting?

i heard rumors that you run into problems when turning up the boost with the apex'i twin chamber. thats why i wanted to know if there was any basis to these rumors and then what might handle higher boost better and more reliably, thanks!

i hear the turbo XS one is the loudest (not exactly what im looking for) and doesnt neccessarily perform that well, and the hks ssbov is pretty loud too but performs better.

im tempted to grab a greddy type RS and try it out and report what i find tho.

louder = usually the worst performing...just take a look at the other thread about the "loudest bov"..

k thats what i was wondering, because the new type RS by greddy looks like a good design and that horn supposedly amplifies the sound, without sacrificing the performance.

Exactly.. Hence I asked him to learn about BOV's.. Loud (which most newbs thing its cooler) doesnt mean better.

In my opinion Apexi and Tials are better BOVs than other one ported bovs. Just look at the design and purpose of bovs. Its purpose is to vent out compressed air. Think of it like a whistle. Small opening where you blow (compressed), uses that air (usually small amount) to make alot of noise. Most BOVs with single opening does the similar thing. Longer and Louder the noise it makes, worse the BOV..

Multi relieve ported BOVs, Like Apexi and Tial(better design), when they open up, they relieve the pressure quicker, hence better since it has more openings to relieve the pressure. Hence I believe they are better BOVs.

Apexi on the other hand has opening size adjuster.. for those who care about noise.

But honestly, if you are only going to run stock boost or 14lbs of boost, any of these bov's should be fine.. If you really really worried about your current set up and want "better" set up (better relief and sound), My advice will be to go with TWO (2) BOVs and a vented hood.

Hope this is more constructive advice for you.
