Bouncy Idle, plus other heat question

My rx7 has 85k on the original engine (yes, scary, I know). Compression test will be coming soon, don't worry.

Anyways, no mods on it yet, but a downpipe and exhaust are on the way.

Driving around town when I come to a stop and take it out of gear, it will idle weird. It will go up and down between 1000 and 1300 rpms, then after about 15 seconds it'll stop and idle at 1000. It only bounces around right after I take it out of gear. When I first got the car it idled very rough, so I added some extra ground wires in the engine bay, and replaced the main engine ground, it definitely doesn't idle rough anymore.

But I think there are 2 things that might be causing it. I went to an auto store to get a rubber hose for my boost gauge, but the only hose that fit was pretty thin, and I had to push it pretty hard to get it on the nipple in the manifold. But the boost guage works well and I have normal boost levels and everything. Maybe the hose is too thin? The boost gauge will bounce around with the idle too when it happens.

The other thing is I added a stereo, about 1700w rms of total power. I haven't checked to see if it happens with the stereo off, but I'll check on the way home from work.

Any ideas why it's doing that?

Finally, the heat question I have is about an aftermarket hood. Most aftermarket hoods I see are vented, so I'm wondering if those are functional at all. Are there any aftermarket hoods that are vented that actually serve a purpose to keep the engine cooler? I was thinking about doing a new hood before putting in an ecu. But I'll definitely be putting in a Koyo radiator within the next month.

Thanks in advance.

You have a hunting idle possibly caused by a vacuum leak. Check out some of these posts.

Could be a vacuum leak, could be a lower intake gasket. I had a similar problem.
