Bouncing hood

Hey guys...have an easy one for you. The hood on my 93 R1 jumps around a lot when I'm on the road...it's more pronounced on the driver's side. Not a lot of jumping, but enough to catch my eye and bug me. I looked at adjusting the rubber bumpers but I don't see an adjustment. My rear hatch makes a few squeaks and rattles and I am wondering if those rubber bumpers need adjustment as well.

Could it be that the light aluminum hood is just catching air? Maybe the rubber bumpers are just old and need replacement? Any way to fix this (hood or trunk)? Anybody else dealt with this problem?

my hood squeaks quite a bit... i think mazda's official solution is to raise the rubber bump stops.

btw, where's that picture in your sig taken at? that building looks very familiar...

I don't believe you can raise the rubber stoppers, but you can adjust the latch mechanism and lower it (in effect pulling the hood tighter).

Cool...I'll check out the manual tonight and look into adjusting the latch. Thanks!

the same thing use to happen to me, at 60 mph the hood looked like it was gonna rip off. i have currently put hood pins in and that has seemed to have cured the problem.

Most of the rubber bump stops just screw up or down to adjust. If that doesn't work wrap some tape around the latch.
