Bought the VITON hoses

Well hell....I did it. I purchased the High Temp Silicone VITON hose kit. After much debate I decided to hell with it....it is worth the money.

Cool, let us know how it turned out. I went with Silicone, but am thinking that I'll buy a few feet of the viton for the areas that have the risk of gas and oil exposure.

I did the hose job with these. Great stuff. However, one tip:

Don't use rubber lube on viton, especially sliding onto the metal nipples. The lube just doesn't absorb into viton, and the hoses will keep slipping off.

I tried that, and I had to clean the lube off of every tube that was slid onto a metal nipple before it would stay in place!

Yeah, that HAD been my intention, but they only had like 2 feet of the 8mm and none of the 6mm and I had spent about $150 on just the 3.5mm and 4.0mm already, so the Kit was a good buy (although spending $278 bucks for VACUUM LINES is just...something only FD owners would tolerate! ), and I still have some reservations on the silicone lines regarding splitting or popping off.

I have used buna -n for years ( 11 ) with no problems at all . I will not use silicone at all .I would use viton if the buna -n was failing . All of my lines are now steel tubing and hidden from view with only short rubber connectors.
