If it's never been out, you'll need more than the removal tool. I had to apply some extra pressure to the back of the radio/cd to get it to finally move out.
You can get behind it from the driver's side with a large screwdriver or similar. With the removal tools in place and wiggling it, apply pressure to the back and it should pop free. I think it sticks because of the rubber bumpers on the rear of the units getting stuck against the cross bar.

If the stereo has never been out there's a rubber piece on the back that (located about center of the radio) can dig in pretty good and make it hard to pull out. The screw driver should do the trick
