Boost question

Hello everyone! My question is that, what is a reliable boost with these mods.......

FMIC, pettit intake, BOV, PowerFC, hks twin power, down/mid pipe, exhaust, boost controller. I am runnig on stock twins. any info will be very helpful. thank you. =)

10lbs or less is always the safest. but with getting the best of both(power/some reliability) would, in my opinion, be 13lbs

make sure you get a good dynotune

13PSI Max on stock fuel system and non ported wastegate. I blew my motor because I ran out of fuel at 14-15 PSI. Dont make the same mistake.

Hey stephen. I agree with 4CN A1R. Keep it at 10lbs. Remember, you do have a full exhaust system, so you must be very careful about your boost. If you want to turn it up, upgrade your fuel system, port your wastegate, and get a good tune.

i am going to keep it at 10 psi, and when i get a good dyno i would want to go at least 12psi. would it be ok just to go 12psi with out dyno first? or wait till i dyno? by upgradin fuel system, do you mean get a fuel pump? or get 91 and up fuel? i do have secondary 1300cc injectors coming and i have a fuel pump already. any suggestion will be greatly appreciated. =) thanks 4cn, rotary, and waach for your help!

well you never want to increase the boost before having it properly tuned. by properly, i mean by a professional and using a dyno.

by upgradin fuel system, do you mean get a fuel pump?
by upgraded fuel system i mean pump, fpr, fuel rail(s), and injectors. your injectors duty cycle will be running in the high 90 percentile with 13-14psi.

or get 91 and up fuel?
i would hope your using 93 octane. 91, if thats all you have access too. anything less than that is unacceptable

To re-emphasize one critical point:

You WILL overboost (boost creep) with a full exhaust unless you get the wastegate ported, or restrict the exhaust a bit. No boost controller will be able to control the boost if your flow mods allow the exhaust flow to overpower the wastegate.

I agree with DaveW, unless you happen to have a stock muffler you'll probably get into boost creep problems.

The point of staying at 10psi or 12psi is so that you don't run out of fuel. Stock fuel systems have supported 13 psi, but I wouldn't do it unless you know you have duty cycles to spare and you've verified your AFRs.

While it's probably ok to run 12psi since the PFC base map usually covers that, I'd still wait until the tuning session because you don't have a wideband. The tune will be huge since you'll increase boost and improve the tuning and verify AFRs at the same time. If you have a sticky injector or other issue your tuner will know it and not pop the engine.
