Boost Problem of the 3rd Kind - solved

Troubles began when I installed a Profec B. that I bought slightly used.
It didnt come with an air filter to the controller box but I tested it anyways and to no ones suprise there was a leak somewhere. I found out later that I dont need the airfilter to the controller, but I put a one way check valve in, just to help out.
Boost was always 7-8psi and low secondary (not hitting 9+psi on primary was the reason for 5psi 2ndary boost)

After redoing all the hoses on the turbo side of the control system, nothing changed. I re-did the BOV & CRV hoses and it you could tell something was better. At this point I was really frustrated. There should be proper boost. levels I swapped out Wastegate & P.C Solenoids to no avail (thanks Mikey).

I check'd all Pressure and Vacuum chamber hoses and nothing seemed wrong. I carefully studied as many 'Rats Nest' hoses as possible without removing it and just didnt see anything.. but decided I need to do them to 'eliminate' another item as a problem area.

The Profec B has a nozzle that recieves a vacuum hose for boost pressure. I tee'd a line going to my Defi Boost gauge to go to the Profec B.
I decided that I should re-do those hoses that were tee'd off to the Profec B, just to check that off the list.
I double ziptied everything and noticed where the vacuum hose attaches to the Profec B seemed kinda suspect so I cleaned that up.

I took it on a test drive and low and behold!.. Perfect 10-8-10 on low boost. (where I had left it the last time it worked) ((it used to work off and on))
Hi Boost was 12-10-15... after a helpful tip, I adjusted the first **** to all the way SHARP and bam 12-10-12 on hi-boost. Im so stoked and I didnt have to spend my saturday afternoon re-doing the rats nest. (for now)
No losses at the street races that night (285 fwhp Integra & 15psi turbo'd 240sx SE)

So dont give up on those boost leaks, do all the turbo stuff first.. its the easiest to get to.. its all about eliminating problems. Ive never had a funky leak.. it was always a hose that was leaking air (BOV, CRV and now line going to Boost Controller) I

From: Shaw AFB, SC finally close to home!!! yeah!
It's great to see someone actually adding some positive info. in this section! It's not all of the time that you get to read about someone's FD problems being fixed! Most of the time you just come on here for advice and then fix your problem. But it's great to see a thread like this! Congrats on finding your boost leak! Now you should go non-seq. and then you'll be amazed with your boost and there is almost no lag! The major thing to me is getting rid of all that mess that you see with seq.

thanks.
As for the Non Seq. For road racing I need the low end power. I hear the 'halfass' Non Seq setup has more lag then going full Non Seq. So If I ever do it, Ill probably go all out with the block off plates and everything. Until then.. I salute the Sequential Setup!

Glad to hear it for you. Sequential must be nice when it works, because everyone rants and raves about it.

As for racing, why do you need low end power? Whenever I race anyone, then engine is never below 4k rpms. And non-seq with full exhaust, or even with a high-flow cat will get you full boost by then. Do the poormans one day and give it a shot. It's good stuff
