boost problem

94 FD. Mods: downpipe and K&N air filter. That's it. 65k on the original engine.

Idles fine, runs smooth but.......

Boost is: 8 to 4500 rpm then immediately drops to 5 and stays there all the way to redline. Boost gauge is connected at spare tap on intake plenum. I don't see anything obviously wrong like disconnected hoses. Haven't had time to troubleshoot it much yet. Suggestions where to begin would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Greg

it can't be a boost leak or it wouldn't make 8 psi. it immediately drops to 5 psi at 4500 which indicates a control system problem. I do have the Efini on order though. When I get into that job I'll start troubleshooting.

Any suggestions where to look first?

Thanks!

check the vaccum hoses which go into the turbo actuators (I think thats what they are called), anyhow they're towards the front of the car. you'll need to take the intake off. I can't explain that well right now, mine are off at BNR. hope that helped a little.
