Smile Boost issues and PFC !

Hi everyone ;o)

I know the PFC can control boost to a certain degree, my question is that my car has a Greddy profec b specII boostcontroller to cotrol the boost, but when I go into the Commander I can see the boostcontrol is ON, is that right when I have the Greddy to control the boost ? allso, the motor has just been rebuild and the wastegate has been ported to prevent boostcreep, but suddenly my primary turbo will not start spooling up before I hit 3000 RPM ! has it something to do with the porting ? and if, what can/should I change in the PFC or boostcontroller to spool up as before ? or could it be something else I sholud look for that the turbo has this behavior ? I have the stock twin turbo seq. and before the rebuild/porting it worked just perfectly, hope some of you gyus can help me with this as I do not have big knowledge about the twin turbo system, thank's a lot.

do you have your boost controller hooked up to the precontrol actuator as well?

the "Sequential turbo control" option in the PFC activates all the other solenoids used during transition (charge control, charge relief, and the two turbo control solenoids). if the precontrol and wastegate solenoids aren't hooked to the wastegate actuator then the PFC is not controlling boost really.

I think you are saying the setup is exactly the same as before the engine was rebuilt, correct? If so, then something (probably minor) got messed up. Primary not spooling is fairly rare as most everything with the twin system is on "auto pilot" until the secondary is ready to kick in. First thing I would look for is a leak, but if all goes well after 3K rpm, then that doesn't sound lilkely. Perhaps the tubo control valve is open for some reason and you are losing boost through the charge relief valve until it closes (but that is usually at a slightly higher RPM.
Study the turbo trouble shooting posts in the FAQ section and/or take it back to whoever built it and reinstalled everything. You should be able to find the issue(s) with a systematic check of everything. . .Good luck.

PS. One other thing I just thought of. . .make sure the boost on the stock system is set higher than the boost on the Greddy EBC or you can run into fuel cut and other issues, but again, it doesn't sound like this is your specific problem.

Thumbs up

Thank's for your reply arghx, I do not know if it is hooked up right, the guy that rebuild the motor has checked the hoses, lines etc. and have not found anything different ! I did not have the problem before the rebuild/ported wastegate and I have not changed anything in the boost setings etc. but I will look into what you suggest, thank's.

Thank's for your reply jmadams74, yes my setup is exactly the same as before and nothing has been changed in the boost setings etc. the only thing that is different is that the guy that did the rebuild , put new metal gaskets in the turbo (they were boath cracked) and ported the wastegate (I have straight exhaust pipe without catalyst) I will check all hoses for leaks and allso check tubo control valve. The thing you suggest about checking the boost is set slightly higher on the PFC, I will of course, but that should be strange I have never changed anything in the PFC since I bought the car and so far it has been spooling/boosting fine, thank's a lot, if you have any other suggestions please feel free to PM me.

I would inspect every vacuum line, especially those going to the actuators.
