I noticed this when I was getting ready to put the downpipe on my 3rd gen for some reason the previous owner of my car replaced the main cat with midpipe without doing any other mod except a k&n air filter. I've heard so much about boost creep and I don't know what should I do. Should I get a main cat and put it on or is there another solution. (if getting a main cat is the only solution any of you guys are selling yours). Thanks for replying

Well, do you still have the stock cb.? You might be able to get away with it. You must must must have a boost guage! I would not spend the money on a cat. Their are diffrent ways to go. You could get block off plates, boost controler, or a ported waste gate.
Another thing to remember is, are you sequential, if so you might run into boost spikes. Just make sure that you keep the boost down around 10, if possible "absolutly no more than 12 on a stock ecu".

I've finished putting on my downpipe and the car is really loud and stinks like people stated before. I do have a boost gauge and stock cb and so far no boost spikes.I am still sequential. One thing is that the car idles pretty high now at 1200 rpm for some reason and vaccum is around 15-16. before I put downpipe on, it idle at 800-850 with 15-16 vaccum. what do block off plates do. Overall the car is running pretty good with good boost pattern.

i think that he meant a restricter plate. it's just a plate with a relatively small hole cut in it to reduce the amount of air that can flow through the exhaust. this will limit your boost to a controlable level.
