Boost controller questions....

I recently bought a 93 FD with the following mods:

DP
MP
CB

The turbos are shot and the previous owner said he was seeing 12 psi. I'm putting new turbos in it this week along with a K&N, and I am really concerned about overboosting the motor. Will the home depot boost controllers allow me to turn boost down to 10-11 psi?

boost control

i have dp, mp, cb, and intake. and with the Greddy profec b (said to be the best boost controller) i was not able to keep the boost below 14-15psi. only after adding a restrictor plate in the exhaust and porting the wastegate, im able to keep the boost stable wherever i want it. do a search on restrictor plates and wastegate porting. good luck

Try replacing the 4" hose that goes to the WG that has the pill in it with a regular vac. hose

On a stock motor No Pill = 7 psi WOT

My mods: IC,DP,CATBACK,INTAKES, hi-flow cat No Pill = 9 psi WOT in 4th gear.

I used to use the HD boost controller but even with the valve turned wide open, it couldn't keep the boost below 15-16 psi. The valve and 6' of hose added too much restriction to hold the boost down.

Every car is different, but with the stock intake, you may be able to restrict your boost. Or you may not. It depends on the car. If you are not able to control it very well, you may want to consider spending the money for a hi-flo cat or used stock cat to help restrict your boost for now. Or as the others said, research restrictor plates.

Thanks for the replys guys. It seemed to me that with a boost controller in the current line (with a pill), than you would only be able to turn boost up, not down. I just want to be able to enjoy the car before I get a PFC.
