Boost control issues Q's

And yes I searched but I still was not satistfied.

I just purchased a profec B spec II Boost controller so I am in the process of tuning it. I am trying to dial in a 10-8-10 pattern but I am having difficulty in boost consistency.

The way I set out to tune my boost was/is as follows:

1)Set the warning at my highest safe boost (10 psi) and my limiter at 23% because all I care at this point is that I don't exceed 10 psi.

2) Then I set the set boost. I started with 20% (I'm at 28% right now, trial and error as you all know)

3) Then I set the gain to zero. that way boost spikes are not created due to the gain. Boost rolls off at high RPMS (supposed to according to the manual) but I still get a small spike. When I set it higher (at some point) I start getting larger spikes after transition but the boost still falls past 6500 RPMS. normal? meaning spikes will always be there (no matter how small) and so will the roll off? I know that perfect running stock FD have 10-8-10-8 pattern.

4) Then I set the start boost at 80. Slow spool time but if set too close to the actual set boost it may create a spike. So therefore I start high and work my way down.

Now after doing all those steps I am at this point:

Does anyone have actual boost consistency using their turbos in sequential mode? Right now I am seeing (8.9 +/- .1) primary- (7.5 +/.1) transition- (9.1+/.1) secondary- then drops off to back to (7.5 +/.1) at around 6500 rpms. Sometimes the boost can vary as much as +/- .3 psi ( I keep ******* with it but I have gotten as good as .1 variation).

My question is pretty much identical to the one in this thread but I'm wondering if any one has any updated info since the thread is 2 years old. http://64.9.213.132/rx7club.com/foru...ghlight=profec

I also seem to always get a spike. I don't see it in my mechanical guage but my boost controller records it. The spike is anywhere from 0.5 to .9 psi. This was addressed in an older thread and the thread starter dismissed it as normal. Do you guys agree? If you do then what's an acceptable spike?

Another question: For those that are runing non sequential. Is it easier to control the boost? is it consistent and you are able to hold it till redline?

Thanks in advance.

Edit- Mods
Mild streetport
M2 intake
DP midpipe
(stock catback)
Stock ECU but PFC coming real soon. That is why I want to stay under 10 psi to be safe.
