booost creep

ok. i until recently i had a stainlesss downpipe gutted stock cat and hi power exhaust and was experiencing some boost creep. i had read that a hi flo cat would reduce boost creep so i bought a rx7store hi flo cat and installed it but still have the same amount of creep. i do have a turbo xs mbc but that doesnt do too much. any suggestions

Port your wastegate... I am not experiencing any boost creep with my unrestricted 3" exhaust and TurboXS MBC, but that seems to be very rare. SO all I can tell you is what everyone else says... And that would be port your wastegate. I'm assuming your still boosting on stock twins?

Search the 3rd Gen forum for Boost Creep and/or Wastegate Porting and I'm sure you'll find all the info you need.

If you do not want to take your turbo off for porting, some kind of restriction in your exhaust track will also stop your boost creep. You can either install a restrictor plate between your midpipe and catback or one at the exit of the catback. Each will rob some performance but you won't have to worry about blowing your engine with the creep. The amount of additional restriction that you many need, besides the high flow cat, is probably very small.

I have used a racing Supertrapp set of restrictor plates for my boost creep issues. Next week I am installing a new set of BNRs with the large wastegate port and, at that time, I will get rid of my restrictor plates and also go with a midpipe instead of my high flow metallic cat.

Check out this restrictor plate thread for a quick cheap and easy way to counter creep.

Why don't you just put the stock cat back on?
