BNR twins installed at KDR yesterday
Finally got these bad boys put in yesterday. I babied them all the way home with no boost (sucked ) and figure to put on around 600-700 miles before my dyno date on September 24th. One nice thing Dave noticed about the turbos were when you started the car after the install, there wasn't a typical puff of black smoke like normal rebuilds (sealed tightly) So far, so good. Got them set up as full non-sequential. Haven't really tested out the response much but seemed a little more responsive than my stockers with a faulty primary. The wheels looked about the same size as the M2 twins he had on a car up there. Overheard a conversation between Dave and artguy, sounds like he's figuring out those screwed up maps of his from XS. It was 102 degrees up there! he was dynoing a T78 FD at 14 lbs and it still pulled 380 rwhp with the room temps over 115 degrees. His air temps after a few runs were over 180 degrees! If he would have waited for a 60-70 degree day he could have pulled down 420 or so at the same exact settings. Can't wait for summer to be over

How long is their warranty ? Also, do they rebuild your original turbo or do they have some on hand and keep yours ? If so, what does your manifold look like ?

Sounds good, but why arn't you boosting the turbo's?? I understand 10lbs if you were on a new motor, but there is no break in on turbo's.......Im sure you know this, right?

The Ricer Eliminator
I'm also looking to get replacement twins for right now. I'm interested to see how they work for you, as ttpowerd recommended these turbos instead of the Pettit turbos.
Good luck - keep us posted

Al900rr - which car were you picking up? I saw you guys stop when I was outside with Dave.
Ernie, that could somewhat be debated as far as running the turbos hard the first day you install them. I want the carbon seals to seal properly and break the bearings in somewhat before I start to push them a little. Bryan at BNR told me to take it easy on them right off. I figure I'll do some pulls to like 4K rpms just to see where the how fast the boost comes on. I'll probably wait a few days since it's so dang hot here - about 100 degrees again today - not nice on turbos. I'm figuring it will run pretty much like a single turbo - like a T04S or T66 - hoping for full boost under 4K but these are big boys running parallel. If it absolutely ridiculous waiting for boost then I'll switch back to sequential - I think they'll run great - can't wait for the numbers.
badass7, Bryan gives a full 1 year/unlimited mileage warranty as long as you replace the oil lines. He sent me the paperwork and it was professional - no "handshake" or verbal warranty like some companies do. Manifold looked great. He rebuilds the core you send him. The turbos I pulled put of my car were immaculate. They look like they have 10K miles on them. They have a small rubbing in the primary but everything else looked great.

It was the car alittle further away from you on the left. The one with the East Bear kit. I didn't want to disturb you guys while you were talking. I was the chinese dude with the red hat.

Funny, i thought you did have to break in turbos. On my last car, i installed a turbo system from bell engineering and they recommended a break in period. I could be wrong though.

No midpipes here, I like my hearing and want to keep it when I get older. Yeah, a couple more hp up high but even causes more lag down low and smells like a truck stop (I had a MP before) I was thinking maybe I should take my car to PFS to get dynoed instead of KD - probably net about 50 more rwhp. Going for like 400 rwhp at 10 psi...lol j/k, just kidding Ryan. It was wet out tonight but and 90% humidity so I didn't want to push it too much. I had 5 psi by 3K rpms and it started to pull. Hopefully it will be dry tomorrow so I can do some runs

when under boost you can be running as much as 80,000rpms - 150,000rpms depending on the turbo.
When your not under boost sure they spin but not very fast, there just isnt much strain on a turbo at idle versus full boost.

Barry,
Have you had the chance to rip on those turbos yet. I was wondering at what rpm's do you get full boost? I've been talking to Bryan about getting a set but I'd like more input on your's before I commit.
Thanks,
Andrew
