NY "BNR" rebuilt twins don't line up?

Well, I kinda need some quick feed back. I bought some twins off a forum member that advertised as fresh BNR rebuilt twins. They look great and don't seem to have any problems. I don't doubt they are rebuilt. They are all painted and what not but my brother said that the clock position is off. The oil lines don't seem to line up almost at all. The y pipe seems like it is off as well. What my brother and I need to know is if we take the turbos back off and remove the bolts to attempt to rotate the housings, will we run into any types of leaks? Neither one of us are sure how they're all sealed up so we did want to mess with it without some insight. Also is there a better way to solve this problem?

We're so close to getting the car back together and need to figure this out asap. I have to get the car running before I leave for Ft. Drum in June and we only have the weekends to work on it. Banzai-Racing says I need to get 2,600 miles on the car for it to be broken in, so thats how long I have to wait before I can get it tuned.

Any help? PLEASE

Part of the BNR stage 3 "kit" is a lengthened Y pipe. That's why they have you send your y pipe in for modification when you buy the twins from them.
Ask the guy you bought them from for the y pipe, or send yours into BNR for modification and I bet they'll bolt right up.

I believe there's a set of BNRs for sale right now on this club. Check the 3rd gen parts FS section and there is a pic of what I'm talking about.

EDIT: found the thread

The problem isn't that the y pipe isn't long enough. The problem is the position of the housings rotation. If I can just rotate them, everything will be fine. I just don't personally know if it's ok to take out the bolts and just rotate them. If so I'm straight and this will all be solved. Another problem I have is figuring out how BNR would reassemble some turbos with them not lining up right.

if the clock orientation is off, just loosen the nuts holding the exhaust side on, rotate the CRHA slightly, and tighten them again. if the compressor housing is off, use some snap pliers to squeeze the snap ring, adjust, and lock down the snap ring again.

make sure you get the bolts good & tight if you do this...they tend to loosen up over time.

theorie: You are giving me exactly what I was looking for! We didn't want to do this if it would screw things up(we just didn't know). Our plan was to loosen the bolts for the exhaust side put them on the manifold and get the right position and put in a couple bolts we can reach to hold it there and take it back off to tighten them all. Cool, so we were on the right track, thanks We don't want to go doing things as a gamble with this car.

Oh, I almost forgot if I ever drive down to the city in the FD to visit my brother in BK I'll have to get in touch. Thanks again for the info.

yeah you can loosen the bolt and line it up.I took my twins apart to change the primary cartridge and i have to rotate them untill i found the right position ,all worked out fine.

I am also putting together a set of twins for none sequential that i had to swap the compressor housings.Removing that bid C clip is a pain in the a*s. but as long as you keep one turbo set in place you can move the other.never loosen both turbos at the same time because then you will have a hard time lining them up.

What part of NY are in? Well, today we loosened up both sides and then mounted them on the the exhaust manifold with the oil tubes on there. Then we lined them up perfect tightened a few bolts and took them back off to tighten all of them. Everything seemed easy and perfect, until I tried to put the y pipe back on. Now my efini crossover pipe hits the therm housing. So now i need to know how big of a pain in the *** is it to remove the c clip to rotate JUST the comp housing My brother has the tools to do it the right way, so as long as it's not something crazy to be worried about we can do it. If it's a problem, I can just say screw it and use the factory y pipe and delete the crossover pipe run the IC straight to the y pipe. I'd rather use my polished efini pipe that I got a SUPER good deal on. They only need to be rotated away from the motor a little bit, not too much. What do you think?

I am in Brooklyn. When I took off C clip and changed the housing and reinstall the C clip the housings stood loose but when I installed the turbos the heat tighten up the housing cover and the C clips. Because your turbos are basically new you shouldn't have to struggle to loosen the C clip and move the covers.
