BNR Questions...Didn't want to hijack...
So basically I'd like to run BNRs sometime in the next spring time frame. I have a couple of questions though...
1) Dave @ KDR said he hasn't dealt with BNRs in a couple of years, but when he had dealt with them a lot of them burned up. Has their quality improved since? I'd hate to spend that kind of money on them, then have them fail shortly after.
2) I'd like to hit 420 - 450 RWHP. Possible with BNRs? Reliable?
I've got all the supporting mods, so I should be good as far as that goes...Motor is street ported, Walbro 255 fuel pump, Aeromotive regulator, 850 primaries, 1600 secondaries, HKS twin power ignition, Full exhaust including DP and MP, Greddy intakes, Fluidyne radiator, etc, etc...I would probably pick up a new clutch, as I'm running the ACT street/strip right now. It holds 380 RWHP without a problem (what I'm making right now on stock twins), but I'd probably get a new clutch to hold the power the BNRs would put out. I'd also probably pick up a FMIC, as I'm running an XS Power SMIC right now.
I know, I could've asked these questions in one of the other BNR threads going on right now, but I didn't want to hijack.
Thanks in advance for any help!

420whp will be a push. Goodfella made 421whp with a monster street ported engine and water injection. I believe the most power ever made on BNR S3s was 425whp, and I believe that person had a bridge port.
BNR S3's are good for the cost and ease of isntall, but if you're looking to regularly make 420-450whp, you're going to want a medium sized single. GT35R or something compairable. A good GT35R kit will run about $1200 more than a set of BNRs. A cheaper GT35R kit will cost about the same as the BNRs.
^ Gotcha. Thanks a lot for the quick reply!
I had a feeling the answer was going to be single turbo, but was hoping to stick with the twins. :P
I know the GT35R is a very popular turbo, so I will most likely end up going with that.
Thanks again!

I don't recall the exact changes but BNR changed things a few years ago and I have not read of any problems since. I believe the bearings are different in the Stage 3. I believe stock and stage 2 options are no longer available.

Bryan also mentioned that the carbon seals in the stock turbos don't take well with synthetic oil. I couldn't get him to elaborate so if anyone else knows why synthetic and the stock carbon seals in the turbos isn't a good idea, please post the info please.

Tim he can put the dynamic seals in there at no extra cost. Also to answer a few questions up top. Bryan has changed his stage 3's since last year of January or something like that. They should be of better quality. Non Seq there have been many who have hit 420RWHP. Now if you're trying to get that in seq, you're better off settling for a reliable 360-380RWHP sequential set up or go to a GT35R or similar sized turbo setup.

I knew Bryan uses the dynamic seals with the upgrades he provides, more or less i was wondering if anyone knew why the stock carbon seals in the stock turbos don't like synthetic oil since I and many others use synthetic oil and still have stock or the 99 spec turbos. And yes that is a long run on sentence
