Blue smoke when cold...(searched)

I have searched for the last 3 hours, some good info, but not what I was looking for.

motor has 3500 miles on it now and it is a reman (new parts, no paint).

I get moderate white/blue smoke that smells like oil/fuel when I start my car (cold). not ATF style, but not slight. smoking gets slightly worse when I rev the motor to ~1500. smoking lessens as the motor warms up. after I take it out and get the turbos nice and warm, the smoking dies down considerably. after everything is up to opperating temp, the smoking is not noticeable from inside the car.

From what I have read, I would think it would be the oil control seals in the motor. However, I have oil in my intercooler piping. the oil hasnt reached the elbow, it is in all the pipe before the intercooler. Also, my spark plugs do not have oil build up on them. It is not the PCV system as I have a catch can installed the correct way (filler neck > catch can > primary turbo inlet). I have NOT checked the oil metering pump or the nozzles yet.

I am thinking it could be the turbos or the OMP or the oil control rings(hoping to rule that one out ).

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Sounds like the turbos to me mine smoked like hell when my 2nd turbo was getting bad. Check the turbo for any external leaks to they start to do that as well. If you dont have a downpipe I would get one or that cat will cook your rebuilt turbo too.

My car had bit of white smoke on cold start-up but now it turned blueish and now lots of it. Is it the turbos or should i be worried for the engine? I hope it's not my engine saying it's last words

I have both although the cat is making tinny sounds so it is probably dead.

I had a similar issue, for me it was the turbos. In my case I ended up having a pool of oil at the bottom of my intercooler. No fun.

Do a compression check to rule out motor/seal damage........ check coolant for oil droplets...
