Exclamation Blue Mazdaspeed Gauge Cluster, will the tach work with an auto tranny???

So I'm going to purchase one of those Blue Mazdaspeed guage clusters, the one with the 300kmp speedo and 10k tach, Ive never seen any pictures of one bigger than a postage stamp and never seen one in a usdm rex, my only issue i have is that I still have an automatic tranny in my car and I would like to know if the tach will still work with the auto in it (yes i am going to do the swap for a manual but right now I daily drive my 93 and the speedo on my stock cluster doesnt work, and no i dont mind spending 1k on a really bad *** gauge cluster).

Tachometers work off of the spark plugs. Unless i am mistaken, I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Please take lots of pics when it gets in and you get it installed. I've been playing with the idea of picking it up, but I just can't justify it. I'd still like to see what it really looks like in person though.

Im gettin this cluster because i went about doing the film sanding mod on my stock gauges and everything was great, but when i got to my speedo the whole freakin gauge needle shaft came out and it's irreperable. being that I havnt even seen one of these stateside or many good pictures dont you worry, ill have LOTS of pictures and stuff, and ill write up an easy to find DIY on 99+ clusters when i do it but other than rarity, i got this cluster because it is SUPPOSEDLY white back lit, but after laying down almost 1k for it, i dont think im gonna try to modify it if its not haha!

There's only one other guy that I know of who has it, he lives in Cali IIRC. I'm planning on changing my stock cluster to blue, are there any tips you could give me?

if your talking about dying the gauge faces or whatever and it involves taking the needles off, use a little focused heat on the center of the needle hubs, but not too much otherwise youll hurt the flat black paint on the surface of the gauge faces, but it can brake down the glue if you know what your doing, thats what i did AFTER i tried the bread knife thing on my speedo which didnt work to say the least. If I could go back and do it again, i would get myself a needle puller, dont know how they work but im told they work very well. anyways thats my 2 cents.
