Unhappy blown seals or clogged cat????

ok... i literally had the girl coming with the check the next day to buy the car and i get on the highway and coming out of fourth i see some smoke not much but some , i shift into 5th and the car has so little power so i downshift to 4th and can barely do 60 up a small hill , it was embarrassing having minivans pass me so i pulled over because there was obviously a problem. the car stalled out and refused to start since. the dealer , i know don't even say it i had no other choice, says the engine is now flooded and needs to be drained. he is specualting to say it 's the cat or the seals blown. one other thing, after coming off the highway the last several times and letting the turbos cool i n the garage i noticed some smoke coming from under the car probalby under the area of the shift box, any relation to the current problem i don't know.....what do you guys make of the whole ordeal.
thanks
rick

Exactly the same thing happened to me the other day. Loss of power for about 30 seconds and then stalled out. I towed it home and has not restarted since. I'm hoping it is just a flooded engine. But given i have over 100K on the clock, also may be the coolant seals gone bad. Waiting for it to get a bit warmer to try the deflooding procedure.

As for the cat, i doubt that would cause such an abrupt loss in power. Please keep us posted on what the dealer says. I'll definately post any progress on my end.

if you can do a compression test that will tell you if engine is going or not. if compression test passes drop the cat's. there are a couple of rotary shops around. i wouldn't really let a dealer EVER touch any of my cars........
