Pettit ECUs run very rich. Infact when first installing a boost controller when I had that ECU I spiked to 16psi and held 1 bar till redline on stock fuel system with full exhaust. I was ecstatic to come out unscathed.
the Code 11 could have caused a lean moment if the AIT wasnt functioning properly.

Get the compression check done so you can know!
but man your symptoms dont sound good at all.

Sometimes engine idles on its own, sometimes not. But I cant speak from personal experience, just what I read around here

rebuild

Yeah its Scott. If your shop wants to charge big time for it, he would, as far as I know, be glad to fix it for you. He's got a bit of experience with them, and knows what he's doing. Go by there and talk to him, see what he says.

Heres a video, I dunno why I'm posting, I know the front rotor is wasted, but anyways I took it before I did the test, might as well post.

vid

Excuse the pollen lol.

Anyways this is my dilemma as it stands now.

I'm waiting on my friend to have some time to help me take it up to the shop that built it. I asked the guy what he thought about the situation and he just wants me to bring it up there so he can take it apart and make a call from there.

This is where I am worried. I am worried he will just say, sorry buddy, SOL. Which I understand from his point of view, trying to make money. But then there's my pov, I just ~5k with him, and had a motor last a very very paltry amount of miles. I'm not sure whether to bring this up at first, or only if he trys to tell me he's not going to help me out at all.

When I first went to pick up the car, he told me, oh it's running great and everything just come and pick it up. I get there and he is going to take me for a test ride. Mind you, at the time, the car had full exhaust and intake, no boost control. I had given him the pettit ecu and downpipe to install, the car already had a midpipe and catback and he put an intake on it. I had done lots of reading and research and knew that the car would probably have extremely uncontrollable boost. I mentioned this to him, as I was interested in buying a profec b from him as well. But anyways,. I knew what not to do with the car, not to boost it and also the fact that it was freshly rebuilt. Anyways, I get there, he has the stock ecu in, he says i should run it like that for breakin. He goes to start the car and AWS kicks in, he remarks, its wierd sometimes they start up like that, it kind of bothered me, I figured he would know about the AWS being that he is a rotary specialist. Anyways, let it warm up then hop in and he takes me for a ride. To my shock he runs thru 1-3 WOT, I was looking at the guage and from my POV it looked to be around 18-20 peaking, I got scared and asked him to back out of it, he said, I just want to show you what not to do, hitting fuel cut etc. etc.. overboosting. I was miffed about this, but I didnt know what to say exactly so I left it at that.

Meanwhile, my roomate is back at the shop, and I take it, his son or whatever, who was giving a hand putting hte car back together, was talking to my roomate. He kept saying how it was one of the fastest cars he had ever been in. So this makes me wonder, how much he had ragged on the car before I came to pick it up, it was about 25-30 outside, cold cold niight full exhaust, no boost control.

Regardless it seemed to be running great so I took it home. Had no problems with it, put a profec b on, ran it at 11-12 psi with the pettit ecu, upgraded radiator, fan mod, etc... I was overly cautious with the car, RARELY even taking it over 4500 rpm. All my car buddies gave me **** for babying the car.

So that's where I stand now, I'm waiting to take it up there, and I'm curious as to whether I should try and make a stand regarding the above if he refuses to help me out. Oh well, just venting I guess, only time will tell.

I want to help out because this happened to me too. You need someone in the area to come with you like a real rotary specialist or a huge guy. I think you could easily sue the guy a court will not understand how a motor can last just a few thousand miles no matter what he says about the rotary or how you were driving it. This guy is a creep you need to be firm and tell him that you dont care what is wrong you expect him to rebuild it totally free of charge or you will sue him for the cost that another rotary shop charges you. Id actually prefer to take it to someone else if I were you but just see if he's willing to help you first.
