Yup. I bet the cold weather gave you more boost and leaned it out. If you were beyond the MAP sensor's range, it doesn't compensate for the add'l boost.

Was the WG ported?

the clap isnt as bad as it sounds!! run 15 psi, it feels good!!!

lmfao

stock twins on 13psi+ is a bad idea IMO.... too much boost for those little guys.... talk about unreliable, there is the wategate issue, as well as just running them too hard... they make lots of heat at that psi, and they simply arent designed for it!!!
A low-costing single set-up is the way to go bud! more flow, and more reliable! :O

I use stock mazda parts, including apex seals and springs.

My cars spec:

standard injectors
standard turbos
standard ports
rebuild with all new seals, new rotor housings
larger intercooler
larger rad
PFC
emissions removed
decat
feed downpipe

thats about it.

I run 15psi all the time, the track does pretty much nothing but track use. Im at 12,000 miles on this engine now - again i dont use it to go places, just to go out and have fun.

granted we have 98 octane over here, but theres something wrong with your tune which keeps causing the engine to go mate. at 15psi on a good tune and stock turbos/ports you should be able to beat on it all day every day without issue.

p.s the more boost you run on stock turbos the less likely you are to experience boost creep, please understand this. I dont get any @ 15 psi, stock everything including WG.

Just like everything else, your octane rating is different from ours...Your 98 is the equivolent of our 92. Just so you know...

oh ok, ours is 98 RON.

If what you say is true, this just makes that guys tune even worse.

However, i don't believe you guys can get 100+ RON fuel from the pump over there (95 octane or whatever you wanna call it) for $4 a gallon or whatever it is you pay. If you can, i hate you. We pay about $12 a gallon here for 98 RON.

Ours is up to 94 PON at the pump. PON is MON + RON /2.

In my area, 93 PON is ~$3.05 per gallon. In the most expencive areas of the country(california) it gets up to $4/gal for 93 PON, I think. It's hard to find anything more than 93. Sometimes you can find 94 on the pump and very rarely you can get 100 PON. I don't think anyone sells 95-99 octane here. At least I've never seen it.

Went out for one last thrashing before heading back to the shop. Never got it to go over 14psi, but then again I'm not moving as much air with a cracked seal and low compression. BTW, I use a boost gauge not the map sensor to read out boost.
However, I was surprised to see a ramp up of ignition timing from 14 degrees @ 6400 to 21 degrees @ 8000 under 15psi of boost!
The person tuning must have assumed that the engine would be under less load at those high revs. Not the way I drive! My shifts take less time than blinking and that would put the engine under a heavy load as high as 7000rpm. 21 was too far I guess.
Injectors are going to be flowtested and rewired back to the ecu.

Most tuners set up for 15-17 on top end for pump gas, as far as I am aware...

After peak torque timing can be increased. Everyone has their own style of tuning, and like opinions, what is bad or good, varies vastly.
