blow off valve leaking?

Ok so i managed to get myself a vacuum pump that checks vacuum.Heres what ive found.I have the blitz blow off valve by the way.So I pumped ait into the vacuum line that goes to the blitz blow off valve and it wont hold vacuum. Is it supposed to not hold air? i also tried this on the stock blow off valve and it holds vacuum. So Im a little puzzled. Is the blitz supposed to hold vacuum as well or is it leaking boost.Because Im also having low boost issues.

it should hold vaccum up to a preset level. im not to firmiliar with the blitz, but is it adjustable?

yes it does have an adjustment bolt and also has a hex bolt that tightens and loosens up.I believe blitz says that the bov can handle up to 15 psi.But even When I pump 10 psi it wont hold it.It just keeps dropping.
I tried the same thing with the stock bov and it holds boost just fine.I also installed the stock bov and I did notice that it is a lot louder when I let off the throttle than the blitz unit. But unfortunately it still did not cure my low boost issues.I have noticed that now I cant even hit 9 psi anymore. The highest the car boosts now is .5 bar or 7.5 psi.I really think my precat or main cat are clogged at this point.Especially since the boost problem seems to be getting worse.

Ok So I decided to see if the crv was also holding vacuum and it sure does. But the strange part was when I took off the vacuum hose going to it.It was under a whole lot of pressure.Meaning that when I took it off is let out a whole lot of air.Or maybe it sucked up a whole lot of air.Is this normal?

you should of already replaced that precat with a dp. What happens when you tighten down the hex bolt. that should apply more pressure to the spring and make it hold vaccum more.. You want the spring to hold about 16 lbs of vaccum so its not open during idle.. if you notice when you shift vaccum shoots to 22-23 psi, thats the only time the bov should open.

im still waiting on the downpipe. My question is this.Should a blow off valve be able to hold vacuum at a constant.Meaning that if I give it 10 psi with the vacuum pump it will hold it.Because the blitz bov cant hold it and ive screwed the thing all the way down. Therefore it should have more than enough pressure.

yes, it should hold any and all vaccum up to a certain amount... at 10 psi it should not be leaking period.

You might want to look at vaccume leaks as well with the 7.5 psi boost, sounds like it is opening on spring pressure with the wastegate.

If the blow-off valve was the issue, you would know from the loud rush of air out of the BOV. I do believe the BOV bleeds off vaccume but don't quote me on that....

Just my 2 cents.

Is the stock blow off valve the same as heavyer duty blow off valves from aftermarket companies? Meaning do they work the same way? I called blitz and tried to see what the deal was and the guy told me that there was nothing wrong with the blow off valve. But I was rather skeptical. If they are essentially the same then theres something wrong with the blitz unit.Because the stock bov and the stock crv both hold vacuum. So If I pump 10 psi of vacuum it holds 10 psi and so forth all the way up to 21 psi.It wont go any higher than that.
The blitz on the other hand will not hold vacuum. If I pump 10 psi of vacuum it steadily decreases until it hits zero vacuum.I need to know if the BOV is fucked.Because If I send it to blitz to repair it and theres nothing wrong with it Im going to be charged 50 bucks. If there is something wrong with it they will fix it or replace it.

Im not very familiar with the wastegate controlls. But if what you say is true where would be the most likely places to check for this sort of problem?

The first place would be to check for pills in the lines:

If you don't have the restrictor pills, your boost will be limited to the wastegate spring rate (about 7 PSI).

Did this problem just happen or has the car been this way since you bought it? If it just happened, it doubtful it's the pills.

not the pills.Although a while back when I changed out the vacuum lines I managed to throw away the lines with the pills in them.So I asked a friend to fabricate some pills for me.I put them in and they worked like a charm.
So what do you think about my little blow off valve discovery? I know ive read somewhere on the board that the blitz units sometimes leak? From all my findings would you say I have a leaky blow off valve?

heres another question. If the pills arent at fault.Coult the actuators be the problem? meaning that one of them may be stuck? and if so how do I unstick them?

First thing first. If you still have your stock BOV (which apparently you do), hook it up and drive the car. If it fixes your problem, then you know it was the Blitz BOV.

If not, then you can start troubleshooting more.

I already did that.Didnt fix the boost problem. But i did notice that the stock bovis being much more sensitive and is much louder than the blitz.

Well, you have eliminated one item from your problem so don't worry about the BOV right now. Have you read through this site:

So I have confirmed beyond a shadow of a doubt that the blitz blow off valve is indeed leaking air.Apparently it is leaking from the swiveling piece where the vacuum hose attaches to.So im either going to superglue the damn thing or jb quick weld it.Still having boost issues though.
Another question.I have noticed a slight change. When its warl outside the car will only boost up to 7.5 psi. When its cold outside the car boosts as high as 9 psi but no higher.Does this provide any kind of clue?

Even with a properly working system, without a boost controller you can get some spiking during the cooler/cold months.

Check the site that I posted above for troubleshooting the "Wastegate Solenoid / Actuator". Since you are only seeing about 7 PSI on normal days, it seems like your wastegate control might be the problem.

a little update for you mahjik.
I did read through the website.I read on there that if you disconnect the electrical connectors that go to the engine duty solenoid and you can get the car to hit roughly 7 psi then you dont have a boost leak, exhaust leak or wastegate actuator or turbo actuators issues.
Well lucky me the car hits 7 psi or so.So Ive eliminated a whole lot of possible problems.
One thing the site did mention is that the symptoms of a clogged precat are as follows.Boost falls off in the higher rpms.Which it does. And boost should fall off at roughly 6000 rpms.Which it does. Once the car hits past 4000 and up boost just dies down untill 6000rpms where it goes bye bye.At this point im tired of screwing with the car.I think im going to wait untill I get the downpipe and see if changing out the precat with the downpipe will do the trick.Ill post up the results asap.
I hope it works.

new update.
problem solved.wasnt a clogged precat after all.It turned out to be the rubber coupler that couples the y pipe nad the cross over tube.I tore and had about a good 2 inch tear in it.I managed to get a replacement and now the car boosts all the way up to .9 bar/13 psi.
Wooo hooooooo. Is all I can say right now.Now I cant weait to get the downpipe and see what kind of gains I see from that bad boy.Thank you everyone for your input.
